I hate most new movies and don't watch tv much if at all so I'm critical of new stuff, usually preferring to watch something of vetted quality. It's freezing rain tonight so the old lady called into work and we watched this one. If you are at all a fan of Bob Dylan or musical movies I think you'll like it. Very well done film and family friendly I might add. Not a ton of swearing, no sex scenes, no drug abuse. Just mostly focused on Dylan's unique, contrarian personality and how he tended to defy what others expected of him. If I was IMDB rating the film I'd def give it a solid 8 or 9.
The acting was excellent, the people chosen for roles of quite well known musicians such as Dylan, Baez, Johnny Cash, Al Kooper, Pete Seeger, and others was well thought out. They all look like the characters they represent and nailed the mannerisms well. The performance scenes had an air of realism and whoever was responsible for the musical scenes did a nice job. Really nicely done film and worth the couple hours time invested and I am someone who hates spending 90 minutes watching a film only to wish I had my time back.
