My little review of the PRS David Grissom DGT 15 amp.

I saw some really great video clips featuring this amp. The Doug Sewell designed PRS 'David Grissom' DGT 15 amp. Head and 1x12 cab. 15 watts, Tube Spring Reverb and a Tube-Bias Tremolo. Cab has a Chinese Celestion V30 (Not a usual favorite speaker for muah) On the face, it seems like a pretty simple amp. But, it has some really nice features. Basically a single-channel amp with a foot-switchable boost, which makes it almost a 2-channel amp. More on that in a second. Nice size and weight. Looks and feels rock solid, should hold up nicely for a gigging person.

I've never been a big fan of Creme tolex, but it's growing on me and I like the grill cloth choice, matched my other cabs. It's a ported over-sized 1x12 that they worked on to get the best tone. These oval ported cabs seem to be the hot ticket now. Dumble used them, Two-Rock uses them as well as others have now joined in.

OK, cut to the chase... after firing it up, it totally rocks. It's a bit of a one-trick-pony, but it sounds superb. It kinda' lives in the middle ground of gain. Not super clean, even with the master on 10 and gain low. And, won't get as clean as my other low-wattage amps. It seems to always have a slightly pushed clean. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that type of tone and usually run there anyway. But, if you want crystal-like clean, you won't get it. The entire range of the gain is the middle-ground. Pushed clean to Classic Rock, no metal. One thing you do get is a wide range of that middle ground as it was designed to favor that.
I have to say, I just played the amp yesterday and it was absolutely amazing, didn't want to stop. I kept switching out guitars and each one just shined. I bought the head first and then got the cab to match. My OCD kicked in to have a matching color cab. One caveat, I did prefer my other 1x12 https://stagecraftgear.com/ cab with an Alnico Tone Tubby Red even better. Peeps, they make some awesome custom cabs if you want to get one that matches whatever color and grill you might need. (I have two and can't recommend them any higher).

Back to the fun stuff... There is so much detail to this amp. It's tight and articulate, but still sags a bit with a Tube Rectifier (Oddly, the website doesn't state it has a Tube Rectifier, but it does) Everything sounded warm and juicy for a better word. Again, all in that middle-gain world. The amp does respond well to guitar volume changes which is a big plus. The tube reverb is perfect, not too much, not crazy. But, the tube-bias Tremolo just sound freakin' awesome. I read, they spent a lot of time getting that right and they did. No EFX loop on this one, that might turn a few off, but you know, after years of running a complicated 4-cable rig, my last pedal board is just old-school, all before the amp and I honestly don't think the 4-cable way sounded that much better. If you are doing a lot of cover stuff that required a lot of fancy chorus or delay stuff, it might, but just blues and rockin', I'm fine without the EFX loop, just my 2.5¢.
Some other features of the amp are the Boost and switching. There is a Master Volume that works really well. You can switch the Master in/out completely or have it switch 'In' when you add the Boost to add gain and match volume. Or, leave it out to get a big gain boost for solos, lots of options. You can also add a Bright switch to the switching. Interesting as you can take the Bright OUT when hitting the Boost button. Thus, having a cleaner, brighter tone for Rhythm and a slightly darker tone for boosted solos. Again, your choice. It'll definitely get loud enough for a playing with a drummer as it doesn't try to be a 'uber-clean' amp.
I had another Doug Sewell PRS amp, the 2-Channel Custom that I really liked a while back. That Doug Sewell guy is pretty sharp.
Bottom line, I highly recommend you go check this puppy out, I think you will be floored.
