I'm a fan of the RFT/Siemens EL34s in my amps. And they are generally considered quality NOS tubes. I'm also a fan of the super affordable, new-production EH EL34s as well. I think the two tubes actually sound fairly similar. And in changing tubes last night, I noticed something: They also look exactly alike. I mean, there are two subtle differences I can spot. But is the EH a clone/copy of the RFT? It has the same bottle size. Same dimple in the top. Same crimped four holes in the plate. Same type of getter and flashing. Same star shaped mica spacers, etc. etc. etc. The only two differences I can spot are that the crimpled/folded-over holes in the plates are just slightly smaller on the EH. And the getter is a little smaller as well. Other than, identical.

Anybody ever compare the two?

I also use RFT's in my modded marshall...
Previously I had EL34B and those EH el34s...
the do have that el34 grind that i love in rft's...
not as complex and reliable but still great...

and pretty cheap too...

Yeah, but have you ever noticed that they appear to be RFT clones? At least cosmetically and in terms of construction.
