First off major Kudos to Kyle @ Rhodes. He's letting me put the amp thru the ringer at my house  This amp kicks major ass. The best way I can describe it is that its sounds like the best Mesa you've ever heard. Alot fuller and less fizz than most mesas. Startling thump. Just perfect really. I did two short clips. One with the colossus and one with the VH4. Did the main riff to Rose of Sharyn.

Cant listen on my phone but marked for later. Since we both own a Herbert and an SE, could you compare the Rhodes to both of them? Please?

Tightness, saturation, clarity, bottom end hit, mid voicing, and overall ability to cut in a mix. Anything you can to compare them all would be great. Thanks.

Tighter than both. More saturated than the Herbert (if desired). On par saturation vs SE. ALL HAVE MORE LOW END THAN NEEDED  The mids are just the right frequencies IMO. Would cut like butter. You know how channel 3 on the SE is just balls out no matter what? The gain on the Colossus is so much more usable. I don't go anywhere near channel 4 on the SE

That clip actually sounds closer to the SE channel 4, which is much darker, with a slower attack vs. SE channel 3 to me. Albeit with less bass than the SE. It also sounds like the Colossus has a darker overall voicing (more low mids maybe) than either the SE or Herbie?

Sounds really good! Can't wait to hear what else you come up with, you're quick!

very nice, I actually liked the colossus better here, but to be fair we all know the VH4 + EMGs it's too compressed.

sounds really good! Congrats to Kyle for putting together an awesome amp.

Just listened to this again through my studio monitors and the VH4 sounds a hair better...... The colossus sounds very good too, I think it needs a bit more bite

VERY good job Kyle, I think you have a winner :D

hey ToneMonster, do you have a strat? or a "low output" pups guitar that you can do a clean comparison between the two heads?

I do have a tele and did another thread with a clean and a crunch clip. The clean was with the tele, crunch was with me explorer. Check it out. It's probably on page 2-3 now.

I posted the Clean / Crunch clips Tone Monster did on my SoundCloud page: http://soundcloud.com/rhodesamplification

He's working with it more tonight and doing more high gain stuff. I'm anxious to hear what he comes up with, he did the original comparison clip within minutes of firing up the amp! :)

From just a tonal purpose the Colossus sounds beefier and thicker to me. Much more usable tone and cuts through very nicely. I have played both amps and the Colossus is more versatile in every way, from channel one on up. For me the VH4 while awesome is simply just channel 3.

Both sound good, but in comparing these two clips it's the VH4 for me.....tight, clear, and very articulate. IMHO.
