Rick Beato has a special guest, my personal friend

Rick Beato just put out a new video today, with Tim Pierce, and my good friend Paul Reed Smith. The challenge from Paul was to have Rick and Tim find the 5 best vintage Strats they could. I think they had a 55, 58, 2 62s, and a 63. He wanted them to narrow down the best one and then compare it to one of his SE models. If Paul is going to issue such a big challenge to those 2 guys, you'd think he'd bring some of his personal guitars from the Private Reserve made with wood from Christ's cross or something, and not just some lowly SE.

Perhaps when Paul and I are relaxing on my yacht and sipping fine champagne and eating lobster and caviar in our fine threaded ascots, I'll ask him what he was thinking.

It seems like Paul is taking advantage of your fiduciary and social standing and then disregarding your tone advice. If that's the case he doesn't realize he is losing out on some of the best ears for tone and tonewoods I've ever met. Have you ever thought about inviting Mark Agnesi out for a weekend of yachting just to see how your ideas bounce off him instead? I know Mark is a leather jacket guy and would probably appreciate what you spent for the italian leather chairs you had reupholstered in the salon.

No, I'd rather not. He'd see my lifestyle and turn what's left of Gibson into the "lifestyle brand" of guys with yachts that listen to yacht rock, and I can't be complicit in the murder of what's left of such a great brand.

Ha, Just watched that video, they actually picked the 63 as the best overall sounding Strat out of the vintage Strats, and then played the SE to compare to that. Watch it. I would have liked to have been in the room.

Everything to lose, very little to gain. If his SE even comes close it’s a win. Paul is crazy like a fox.

You're not gonna get that invite for a weekend on the yacht with that kind of attitude.
I'm starting a new music genre: Wehrmacht yacht rock. It's easy listening Christopher Cross type music but with white power lyrics, using only PRS guitars through German amps. We're a confused bunch.

You mean it's easy listening Christoper Iron Cross type music with white yacht power lyrics.

Remember Kris Kross? Those rapping kids that wore their clothes backwards?

I heard that genre put out a media release saying they sold 6 million records; it was more like 270,000, but their record deal depends on everyone being guilty about buying them.

My Knaggs plays similar in feel to the many pre-CBS Strats I've owned and have played, which is many.

I'd take the Knaggs over any guitar I've ever played, which is saying a lot really.
