Rio Grande BBQ pickups

Thump I loved them till I got a Motor City Pickup called the Torque! Whooped it out of my les paul bridge!

Thump, Did you get a covered or uncovered BBQ? I am curious if they sound the same in your 2 guitars. I just can't believe how much different my Custom and Studio really sounded, one is thick and massive, the studio was a bit thin and chimey. Both sound good though.

I am interested to see how the t-top pickups will be once I get them potted.

The interesting thing is both Jeff and I are selling BBQ pickups at the moment....

I replaced the 500T in my Paul with the BBQ - HUGE improvement! Pretty hot IMO, I end up rolling the volume down a tad almost always. Great pickup though!

I am intrigued by these Motor City do-hickey's though Please tell more!

I have one in my Strat, and the Strat being a brighter guitar, it is perfect for metal as well
It`s still woody nd thick, but tight as well. I also had it in my old RG 507, and it delivered enough crunch for the Metallica tribute band I used to play in.

I have a BBQ in the bridge of my Firebird Studio and a BBQ/Texas combo in my Explorer -- the BBQ is my favorite bridge humbucker for sure. It's on the darker side but it's so toneful and clear sounding to me,...not too hot either.

Wade wound me a 14.1K Torque, love it. I wish he would release his new Eggie pickup descriptions so I know whether or not to get one of his current offerings or an Eggie model.

Your description is dead on Chris. I found them dark and muddy (I hated the Texas in the neck from the start) after a while and swapped them out for Dimarzio PAF/VHPAF set as well. The Dimarzio's sounded awesome in what was a very dark guitar to start with (Mcnaught VSC).

Got it in and it kicks ass!! Exactly what I was hoping for. Thick, thick, thick!! Lots of harmonics, just the right amount of output. Not "tight" on the lower strings but it's not flubby either, but I knew that before I got it. It's the Bogner XTC of pickups.

Now if I could just find a neck pickup to match.... I tried a Genuine Texas but it was too muddy - I hear the Buffalo is a better choice with a lot of gain.

You BBQ guys have to try the Motor City Torque! Sweet, thick and clear! So muscular....but the Rio rocks I know!

I am always swapping pickups in my LPs, the Torque is in one now and the other has the Wolfetone Timbre Wolf and Marshallhead.

My PRS is not losing the Dragons - they rock and my 1989 SG rocks totall stock! Thick as hell!
