Building a new guitar hum/hum.

Bridge/neck will be either Nail Bomb/Cold Sweat or Muy Grande/BBQ.

Help me decide!!!

Thanks

What type of tone are you looking for? And what type of wood is the guitar?

Swamp ash body, quartersawn maple neck, pauo ferro board, OFR. I'm currently playing Wolfgangs with ToneZone/AirZone. Need similar output levels, $$ only a factor in a tie-breaker!

Thanks!

OK, buy both and keep whatever you like more.

I really don't know man. I love the BBQ, but the BK's are great too. Here's a clip I did this weekend with the BBQ in my LP Custom. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

might as well throw the Anderson H2+ and the Suhr Aldrich in for choices also?

i'll probably try a Bare Knuckle here pretty soon? but just not sure about Rio Grande anymore? i had a Crunchbox for awhile and even bragged on it, but ever since getting an Anderson the Suhr is the only that i've found that's in the same league.

LOL!
After the RR clips, I'm afraid of anything that says "Aldrich" on it!!!

My only fear with the BK's is that if Tim personally winds my pups, I'm sure they'll be outstanding, but anyone else in the shop, not so much...
Just wondering if Rio Grande is in the same league, and the only real difference is not quality, but the conversion rate?
Thanks for the input guys! I do have a little time to think it over, parts ship in 3 weeks.

Wade at Motor City Pickups (http://motorcitypickups.com/) winds all of the pickups himself. A few very happy users on this board too, though the popularity seems to originate on the Egnater forum. They are a lot less expensive than the bare-knuckles and I bet they sound every bit as good. I ordered a HSH set of Solutions from Wade for a mahogany super strat type of guitar that I am putting together. GREAT customer service!

If you dream it, Wade can wind it!

Edit: Sorry that this post is off-topic from the subject, but I think that MC pickups are also are great option to consider.

The Rio Grande is plenty high gain, but it's really crunchy. The one I had, I could always hear the different strings even with max gain. I really liked it in a mahogany body/neck Carvin. And if money is the tie breaker then $60-75/pickup is much less than the BK.

Lots of BK lovers though. Great pickups there too.

I sent him a message. I appreciate your input.

ive played rio grandes, bareknuckles and suhrs. i would take the aldrichs first (have them in 3 of my guitars atm), then the bareknuckles and then the grandes. the grandes were good but not as lively as the BKs or suhrs. the suhrs were the clearest by far..and they have a great frequency response. tight lows, singing mids, and smooth yet present and clear highs. the BKs were not as lively as the suhrs. when i say lively..think a great passive pickup compared to an emg. so although emgs work in some situations, i see youre looking at passives, so youd probably want the size, versatility and warmth of passives. go the suhrs..they cost half as much as BKs and sound better.

My preference is the Bare Knuckles. I have them in a few of my guitars, and they sound fantastic. Not that Rio's sound bad, just not as good as BKP. In my opinion.

I have a BBQ/Texas set for sale. Black, std spacing, 100$/set
I bought them from Bryan (troublehead) a while back and haven't used them in forever. :aww:
