Such sad news. Creator of groove tubes and so many other iconic designs. Apparently Aspen has died from injuries sustained from a severe car accident. My heart goes out to his family and his immediate friends.

I believe it was Aspen who owned the infamous purplexi/modded it which George Lynch tried to steal. Aspen was iconic for sure.

I was... and I bet George wishes he had it in his possession at Aspens death. :aww:

Wow!

Thanks for posting that man. We all get so caught up in this fast paced world and don't slow down to hear cool stories like that or learn about inventors. The Raiders game story he told was hilarious. :)

I remember way back when I started delving into the tube amp world, that was who I contacted to get some replacements. You know everyone knows Jim because of the Marshall amp or Leo because of Fender Guitars but some of these companies you just know the name and never hear much about the person behind the tones. Really cool to hear a bit about him. R.I.P.

today i just bought 8 Groove Tubes 6550R (Sovtek 6550WE), those are my favorite 6550 and actually prefer them over the 6550 GE

Thanks Aspen - God Bless you
