Chris Hager of Rough Cutt died yesterday. He was 67. Chris was also a member of Mickey Rat ( the precursor to Ratt ). RIP Chris.
Aww man. Loved Rough Cutt. Easily for me the most underrated 80's band. Their debut is a masterpiece that sadly got buried and I absolutely love and still listen to their second album fairly regularly. Amir Derakh and Hagar were great together. Hager the more blues based "rock" player with Derakh more outside the box stuff. Was cool to see them reunite several years back for one off shows and the Cruise's. I saw on FB that he recently lost his Mom as well.Chris Hager of Rough Cutt died yesterday. He was 67. Chris was also a member of Mickey Rat ( the precursor to Ratt ). RIP Chris.
Wow so they actually gigged with Goldie in LA, I never thought they did any gigs with him.I saw Hager and Craig Goldie in Rough Cutt in the 80's they had some killer guitar tones, I'm guessing Jose modded Marshalls? RIP
There was also a demo with that lineup produced by Ronnie Dio, probably on youtube somewhereWow so they actually gigged with Goldie in LA, I never thought they did any gigs with him.
Yeah knew the demo in fact wasn't one of the songs he was on part of one of the unsigned compilations? There was also a demo with that lineup produced by Ronnie Dio, probably on youtube somewhere
Pretty sure Chris used Jose's, I know Amir used Morin modded Marshall but not the time frame on that. 1st album, 2nd? Not sure. I saw them twice, both times Amir's sound was a little fuller, Chris's more gainey. Matt the bass player was using GK stuff and to this day was the best live bass tone I've ever heard. Drummer Dave Alford is highly underrated. There was a picture I ran across years ago of all their amps stacked up for recording sessions and I can't find it anywhere.Dang! Those first two Rough Cutt albums really hold up to my ears compared to their contemporaries, both the songs and production.
I got the impression that they were big into boosting Marshalls with Furmans along with modded Marshalls
