So for all of those that have ever been in Portland OR to the Satyricon, raise a glass for it's last show. This is a late post, but Halloween night was there last show. They had about 10 bands on the bill. It was a sad day when I read the article. The Satyricon opened in 83 and was the longest running punk rock club on the west coast. It's where Courtney Love and Curt Cobain met, and many famous bands played there prior to making it.

Thats to bad. Ive been there a few times.

I quit going years ago when they started selling hard liquor and remodelled the place. It's been an 18 and over club since 2003 I think which is even worse. Still it's sad to see it close down. I did most of my early 20's there.

I haven't been there since the late 90's, but for a while it was the place to hear bands.

Ever go on Sundays to caberet night, or see karaoke from hell?

I did catch karaoke from hell, there was a lot of fun to be had.

18+ punk rock club? How does something like that expect to stay afloat? Eh, too bad.

Yar after the original owner sold it, it turned into a juice club. It was a killer place in the 80's and 90's though.

I've seen countless killer shows there. I also miss Pine Street Theater/La Luna.

Lot of this been going on in the past few years it seems like... live music for whatever reason is being replaced by D.J.'s which I just don't understand. Either people got to shitty to listen to live, or people just want music they can simulate sex to rather than jump around whatever else. Not really sure, hope things swing back the other way soon though... I gotta make a living.
