Ok, just got this amp on a trade. Wasnt sure what to expect. Didnt really know alot about them. I was looking for something to replace my ENGL FIREBALL 100 (the Brutal amp) and I already have a JCM 800 2203KK(Kerry king model)
I know alot of people are going to think "SLIPKNOT AMP" since its Mick Thompsons signature amp. But this thing is SOOO MUCH MORE!!
So...I plugged the amp in. Played the clean channel for a couple minutes. Sounded really good. Amp has Reverb on it and its been a long time since I had reverb so the Cleans were sounding really nice with a touch of reverb.
Moved on to Channel 2. WOW!
What a great all around channel that actually sounds GOOD!! Had a great 'Marshall' tone but a little thicker with some slight lower end. As much gain as any Hot rodded Modded Marhsall I have played/owned. This amp has built in channel Boosts. It smoked my JCM 800 in this department. Wasnt a honeymoon thing either. I knew right away this amp was only going to get better as I dialed it in more.
Amp has 100 knobs on it and most are push/pull with all bells and whistles.
Going to take some time but 1st impression is FANTASTIC. I was in awe.
Flicked over to the 3rd channel. SUPER HEAVY. But not the 'razor processed' sound I was getting from my ENGL but a THICK LOW END that was clear and very defined. Very crisp and articulate. You wouldnt think an amp with this much gain would handle this way but I was humbled. 120 watts of tonal Bliss.
The next day we had band practice. Everyone that was there felt the same as I do an this amp. And I have had ALOT of amps roll thru my place over the years.
Not saying its perfect for everyone.....but for what we play this amp is covering what I used to need two amps for.
So anyone looking for a Mint Marshall JCM800 2203kk??
Just added this video....
Its just general wanking. Straight in. Channel 2/3.
Yes I am still wearing the HAT!!
........and still drunk off my ass!
Really cant capture how KICK ASS this amp sounds in person but its a good idea here....
Enjoy and dont laugh too hard!!
