Looking around for an attenuator that can be swithced into load mode for when I bias amps. Does it do this the descriptions are kinda vague?

Been thinking about just pickup up another 16 ohm THD but the Rivera caught my interest.

Is THD even still in business?

What's the verdict on these, they've been out awhile now? Good? Decent? OK?

The only other attenuator that catches my attention is the Alex's attenuator but I don't like not being able to switch from 16 to 8 ohms and he doesn't have a parallel speaker jack for two cabs.

I have a RC, and it's a great piece of gear AFAIC. I wasn't using it a lot, but since getting a Kemper, I'm going to be using the balanced out to profile amps directly into the Kemper.

I don't know...The Rivera is pretty spendy. Might be good, but that is my only problem is the price.

The WEBER MASS is great. and is a load box with line out. I liked mine, just didn't need it anymore after I got a more recent quickrod. Used it all the time with my old one, and it didn't suck tone. Could go line out into interface and use impulses too if ya want. For the money, it rocks.

I had a Weber Mass 100 which was good, but it tended to get quite hot. The RC doesn't seem to get hot, or at least it doesn't feel like it to me. I called Rivera and asked why the RC has no 'Load' mode? Rivera said that it's not needed... I still set mine at full attenuation when I bias.

I love mine and use it all the time. I really want to get the new recording version to get the speaker emulator but funds are tight right now.

I have tried a bunch and this one is the best.

Cuts a lot of volume one the first click though.

Anyone compared it to the Two Notes Torpedo? Thought about getting a Torpedo Live or the Rock Crusher + Torpedo Software.

THIS.

I owned a lot of attenuators, including the Weber, Hotplate, Alex's, and a few others. The Rockcrusher was noticeably better than the Alex's, and lots better than the others. I don't need an attenuator right now, but if I needed another, I would go buy another Rockcrusher without a moment's hesitation.

I use the software version with my rockcrusher and it's a great combo. The two notes stuff is the best speaker sim I've tried and I like it better then just loading in IRs. You can download a demo and a free version of the two notes software which I highly recommend doing. It gives you one of the most popular choices which really lets you try it out.

Got one to use with my YJM100. Best attenuator I've used

Yes I already have the demo software :)
I guess I will get the Rock Crusher as well and buy the full Two Notes software. Could be a cool combination. Or maybe I get the Torpedo Live.

What did you like better about the rockcrusher over the Alex specifically? Did you find that to be amp dependent?

I went with a used Alex attenuator over the rockcrusher, mainly due to price, since I could never find a used rockcrusher, likely since they are good and haven't been out as long. I have only heard of a few complaints on the rockcrusher, one being that the attenuation steps are too big of gaps, they wish they were 3dB instead of 4dB steps. The other complaint was that the bedroom mode really changed the tone and feel.

I do really like the Alex attenuator, I do find it changes the feel as you get into low power mode, but its worth it for my application where my Masco MA-50 amp can actually be controlled. Before the volume taper on the dual volumes was next to impossible to control at low gig and home levels, with the Alex, this amp is usable. Still disappointed that the Masco MA-50 didn't pan out as a bass amp, as it would have been great for that function.

The YJM has it's own Power Reduction, but it doesn't work the power tubes the same as going thru an attenuator. I use a little of each

Oh ok. Makes sense. My morning coffee never kicked in today. I'm a little slow. LoL

It's a good sounding attenuator, but the studio pot on mine literally caught fire about 7 months after I got it. Not the biggest deal for me since I can replace one in a few minutes, but I've been trying since February to get Rivera to send me a replacement and haven't had any luck. Got on the phone with a guy once, and he told me to send him an e-mail with my address and they'd send me one, but never got a reply to my e-mail. Or any other e-mail I've sent them. So I've had a $450 attenuator sitting in my gear room doing nothing for almost 8 months.

Friedman's got one coming out pretty soon called the STFU.
TwoNotes Re-Load looks promising.

I dunno, looks like there'll be options out there soon...
