RJM Amp Gizmo - Anything cheaper?

Looking for a cheap way to control amps via MIDI with a board/multi-FX unit. Is there any cheaper way to do this? I was looking into buying a Nova System, and creating patches that change amp channels and effects with the push of one button. The Nova is expensive enough, I don't have the cash to spend on an Amp Gizmo. Is there any other way to do this on the cheap? Doesn't have to be elegant, as I can buy the AG later if I have too, but I'd like to avoid it.

Oh, by the way, I know about the AG Jr. Looking for mega cheap, hah. The annoying thing is that I only need 1 function, Rhythm or Lead channel. That's it! Don't need to switch loops in or out or anything. It would be nice to be able to turn on the solo boost, but I can compensate with the boost in the Nova System. So I would be spending roughly $300 on a box that let's me change the channel on my amp. Pisses me off.

Found the Voodoo Labs switcher..$130. That's better, but it still sucks. $130 to do the job my footswitch does, which I got for free.

I'm not familiar with that one, got a link?

EDIT: Nevermind. Seems like a cheaper version of the Axess CFX-4.

What amp are you using?
Series I Mesa/Boogie Single Rectifier Solo 50 head. See my signature for a full list of my gear.

All I need is to be able to switch between the two channels on the Nova System. That way I can set up presets to switch on/off multiple effects and change channels with one button press.

A used/worn G-Major, Replifex, Multivalve - all can switch up to three channels (have a stereo switching jack).

That was the plan originally Olaf, since the G-Major has switching relays so I wouldn't have to use MIDI. Changed to an all floor based because I need it to be as portable as possible. Would prefer to stay away from rack equipment right now.

Id go with the voodoo labs switcher (I'm thinking of picking one up for myself)

I know what you mean about the price. I found myself in the same place. I ended up going with a used Amp Gizmo and a custom cable for the Mark IV. Don't forget, you'll need a cable too. With the Nova System, I have a cheapish, effects/switching system for the Mark.

Does your Mesa have MIDI? Sounds like you can only use this if your amp already has MIDI.

Nope, the point of this thing is to add midi automation to non-midi amps.

Got it. So then I assume you need a custom cable from Voodoo Lab? That's the deal with the RJM stuff.

there are 1/4" jacks on the voodoo. I think mesa's all have individual jacks for each channel on the back.

The Voodoo does have a DIN jack on it, and Voodoo Lab will make custom cables, or you can make them yourself with the pin-out diagram in the manual.

how about a Axess Electronics CFX4?

I myself use my G Major to switch my amp channels. A simple "y" cable and youre in business

Finding one used is difficult enough, but if you need cable support in the future, you're SOL. That is unless they get the backing they need to get up and running again.

I'm trying to find a similar solution- where I can change four controls on my amp and patch in effects pedals at the same time. But nothing seems to really cut it.... :(

GCX, RG-16, Effect Gizmo, Patchmate, etc.

I use the Voodoo Lab Control Switcher to switch the Suhr pedals in my rack rig (fx-link interface). It works well, and seems configurable for most applications. I didn't like their pedal switchers very much, but I'd recommend the Control Switcher.
