for the midi users here, would you guys go with the RJM RG-16 or a mini amp gizmo and mini effects gizmo ? I have heard the RG-16 is just badass and it does all of it, so maybe it is the way to go ? I have heard nothing but good about RJM stuff so id assume both setups provide flawless switching ...

opinions ??

I have a mini gizmo and cables for 4 different amps. Works pretty good for me. There are some amps where it won't do everything but I was really impressed with how well it works with my Mark V. The only amp I have had an issue with is the EVH 5153 100W. The mini gizmo can't turn the loop off and on. It stays on all of the time.

Here are the amps I am using it with

Mark V 90W
Archon 100
Dual Rectifier
5150 III 100W

I had read that with the EVH amps and the RJM stuff the effects loop is on all the time. I think they even mention that on their website if im not mistaken

I have an rg16 and just love the thing. It is the brain of my rig. Does amp switching and pedal switch.

Badass.

Looking for a rack gizmo for my B rig too!!!!

Good to hear. I am leaning toward the rg-16 for it's one thing does it all build and ease of fitting into my rack. I have a Randall 667 I have been using for its midi and dual loops but want to go back to my peavey stuff.

I even had Ron build me a custom cable for my Peters Triple Channel amp, works soooo good.

Go for it. Too bad they discontinued it, great product.

to me it seems more efficient, to get a mini amp gizmo or switch gizmo and the rjm effects gizmo or mini effects gizmo

idk though, my "rig" is so simple all of it is totally superfluous

ciao

Cant go wrong with the RG-16. I upgraded from a GCX a few years ago and glad I did. I use a Mini Mix with it and it really cant be beat. Nice thing is nowadays you can prolly find a 16 for cheap. Good luck!

I've got a mini effect gizmo on a rack shelf with all my pedals...keeps it all out of the way and one unused loop of the effect gizmo switches amp channels for me.

It also provides power to my midi controller via a 7 pin cable, so I don't have to screw around with power at the front of the stage.

Love my Mini Amp Gizmo. I have one midi pedal board that controls three non-midi and one midi head. I have one attached to the back plate of my Bogner Shiva that never comes off. On the Shiva can now have presets on my midi controller to activate the two amp channels, the boost, and the reverb.

The 3 heads that use the Gizmo are:
Shiva
5153 100w
DSL100
