So I'm probably going to Spain this summer to play with a group I gig with for a Christian English camp that they have every year. I'm really excited...it should be a great experience. My only concern is the safety of my gear. Obviously, I have a guitar case...and I have an alright pedalboard case, but I need a good, solid road case for my Vox AC15C1.

Any suggestions of a good, affordable road case company?
Might as well look for a better pedalboard case too I suppose...

What are the dimensions of your amp? I might have a case that would fit. I think it's a calzone, and built to withstand a nuclear blast.

Awesome!

Vox's website says its:

23.7 X 10.43 X 17.95 inches (W, D, H)

I'll check dimensions when I get home this evening. If it will fit, I'll cut you a killer deal.

IMO I wouldn't bring it. Go with just a carry on pedal board or modeling unit like Line6 HD stuff or X3 live. I brought my rack rig on my first Euro tour. German customs ruined my noise gate they gave it back to me in pieces. Lugging it around sucked and the 220 power conversion thing did not play nice with my digital stuff at all. I was at the mercy of back-line amps the whole tour. Some were horrible and never consistent. Ever since then I bring a small pedal board case (with shoulder strap) that is comfortable to carry through airports. For the most part even the horrible amps can sound good enough if you have right pedals thru them.

I honestly have seen from out the window of the plane my guitar case flying through the air during baggage loadin. The less gear the better. Or save some money and rent one. $250+ for a case and baggage fees for a heavy over-sized additional baggage both ways, You could buy that amp used over there and sell it at the end of the summer.

The power is the only thing that would worry me...I really want to try to take the amp. I figure this is what I would have:

My guitar (carry on)
Very small pedalboard to carry on (Delay, OCD, tuner)
And my amp

So it wouldn't be that much to lug around. But if all else fails I guess I can just grab a POD or something like that. I'm not totally opposed to that.

AC-15 cc1.

Thanks for the link...that looks like a pretty solid case. I'm gonna check into everything a little more, but this is definitely an option.

I bought 2 Marshall headcases ,they were $100 bucks [each] cheaper than anyone else with the same quality & features as the big boys, i'm very pleased.

You could probably rent another Vox for cheaper than it would cost to fly yours to Spain.

I'm thinking it might be a better option to just take a POD or something? How about that idea?

Maybe I could use one of those TC Electronics Nova Systems...hmmm...

If you think you can get the sounds you need from a POD, then it'll definitely be a cheaper and easier solution than lugging the amp overseas.

Do yourself a favor and check with the airline on the cost of that size / weight of the case you like before you fly. My last local trip my wife had just a large suitcase that cost me $60 one way. International will be much more. Hope you have a good time.

F-that. I'd get a backline amp rather than fly with my own but thats just me.

Awesome. Where in Spain is this?

I too would consider only bringing a POD or a Nova System...
