Hey guys. First time posting here in the Bogner subforum. I'm an Egnater Mod50 owner, former Shiva owner. Looking to get another Bogner in my future to add back into my amp collection. Love the versatility and tone of the Mod50, but am still nostalgic for my Bogner...

Anyway.....

I had a 2003 EL34 Shiva non-reverb. Loved the tone immensely, but the FX loop drove me bat-shit crazy. Soldering the resistor into a cable and all that nonsense. And I always felt like my tone suffered. With nothing in the loop, the amp sounded so open and alive and, well, great!

- What's the new updated loop like on the newer Shivas post 2006?
- Are they pedal level or line level?
- Is it basically like having that "resistor cable" built into the amp all the time?
- What pedals are you guys using with it?

I'd probably wind up getting a newer 2006+ Shiva. (Not really interested in the 20th Ann model...) I've read some reviews that the newer 2006+ Shivas sound better, and other reviews that the older Shivas sound far superior.

Can anyone chime in on this, that has had experience with both? Especially the effects loops.

Thanks guys.

The new Shiva loop is OK, takes away a little of the tone with certain (Boss, Digi) floor pedals in the pedal loop, but sounds great with rack gear in the +4 loop out put. Everyone I have talked to says to use a Rocktron Intelliflex, and while I haven't I have tried the TC Gmajor with not a big difference VS nothing in the loop.
One of the pedal type delays I found that works great is the TC Nova, but expect some high end loss with long cable runs if you are going to board mount the pedal. Normal with just about any loop that I have tried with the exception of my old Mark III. One that I want to try is the Eventide delay in the loop, but the credit card company told me I should try to be happy with what I have for a while. Hope this helps.

This helps alot man, thank you!

I'm considering getting a Suhr MiniMix in order to preserve as much tone as possible.

Or, get an eventide timefactor.

I'm done with pedal-level pedals in loops.
