Rocco sure has that VH swing down....don't he?

the notes yes, the swing... not so much. Nothing against Rocco but Van Halen was one a kind.

I kind of feel like Ed himself had lost some of that swing by the 2000's..as his gear changed, his playing changed. As for Rocco, yeah there are other guys that swing better but he's def got enough of it going on. Great player.. and it is a tribute so no biggie. Those original tunes are untouchable though, EVH always was the king of swing in the rock world and always will be.
 
Something about the fast-rhythm playin' ain't right.

Seems like a bunch of the subtle / lower-level / deadish chugs / strokes are missing... IMHO. :confused:
 
So ,
I watched that on the You Tube website. Always have high respect for Rocco.
Now there was a follow up video of Unchained with Satchel.
That boy plays so well that I bet Mailman Danny goes to Steel Panther shows dressed in the Daisy Dukes so he can get front row.

Swing or not that is a killer Ed amp tone with the correct delays and the crispness of the recorded reverb. I would have to say it is probably the best Axe FX direct recorded tone for VH tones that I have heard anywhere on YT.

Good Job Rocco, the medley through the albums was fun to hear.:thumbsup:
