I've just got an offer buying a Rockbox Boiling Point Swirl Hand-painted and would like to know if this pedal is as great as stated on various sites on Internet. The reason I ask is that I don't have the opportunity to try it out before buying. I've read a lot that this is the best Overdrive pedal available. What's your opinion about this pedal? I'm not going to use it at high gain settings but low/medium settings.

Rockbox pedals have a great reputation as far as I know, and the Boiling Point is behind countless Internet videos and sound clips. I've never played one, but they often get associated with the Landgraff Dynamic Overdrive. I have a custom Landgraff, DO built by the late great John himself, and all I can tell you is that among all of the great pedals I own, it's the best. If the Boiling Point is anywhere near as good, then you can't go wrong with one. A Landgraff will set you back around $450, but the Rockbox is less than half the cost.

How much $$$. $350 is crazy. Snake oil.

That thing is a modified tubescreamer with some diode selection. Get a kartakou warmer for far less cash if you need/want these sounds or any of the plethora of clones with a diode switch and led clippers.

I had this pedal twice and sold it ..it was o.k it did not replace my Suhr Ko-boost,Lovepedal Eternity , Boss modded SD-1

I also sold mine since I preferred other OD pedals I had at the time. I also have a Landgraff (the Mo-D model) that I paid $450 for, but it's hands down the best OD pedal I've ever played and blows away the Boiling Point. If you're planning to use it with a low to medium gain amp, I'd recommend the Maxon TBO-9, Thorpy Gunshot or Warthog, or a Landgraff obviously if you can find and afford one

Thanks for all your replies. I ended up buying the Rockbox Boiling Point and it took some time getting it to sound good on all my amps. I like the Plexi mode the most and use the volume at about 10:30 and the gain on 08:00. It really tightens up the tones, both chords and single, and seem to add more of what's already there without any mid-hump or sounding harsh. Really sweet treble.

I sold mine. I much prefer the Cusack Screamer v2. Really great pedal.

The Rockbox is killer, best boost I have tried so far..Great clarity !
