I know those are all VERY different amps, but I love them all. I own a Rockerverb 100 MK!!. For the past couple of years I have been very interested in Diezel's. Herbert's initially (and still), but the VH4 has really caught my eye too. Has anyone really spent a lot of time with each of these amps? I love my Orange. I like the cleans, they aren't sparkling but they're organic and I of course love reverb, which is one thing I wish Diezel's had, but that's what pedal's are for. The versatility on the RV's dirty channel is a lot of fun. I can really dial it back a lot and then crank the channel volume and it sounds clean depending on how soft I'm picking the strings and then when I hit a chord real hard I hear that awesome tube driven crunch. Then bring up the gain a bit and get a nice classic rock tone then even more to 75% and it's a great hard rock tone. Like I said, I love the RV, but I have REALLY been GASing for a Diezel.

Don't flame me here man... It's no honeymoon phase either. But throw the Hagen in there too. It's seriously off the hook :D

No-Flame-Mo :scared:

Oh ya, I'd love to get my hands on that one especially...AND hang onto my Orange. But I can't afford to buy a new amp this fall as I was planning on it so I've got to work with what I've got and either get rid of mine in order to get a Diezel or be convinced to keep my Orange. A perfect world would allow me to have both! Stupid divorce.

Based on my limited knowledge/experience...

If you want an amp that will do classic rock AND metal, the VH4 would be hard to beat out of the three amps that you listed. The Orange would have the nod for classic rock, and the Herbert would get it for metal. The VH4 is the best combination of those two worlds.

Meh, just gas!

i got 2 Diezels and want to try the big Thunderverb!

as far as Diezels, i'd take a Herbert over a VH4, and not sure were the Hagen fits in the mix.

Right on thanks. Now I know that the Orange sounds good at lower volumes, like bedroom and late at night type volumes. And then of course it really shines the louder it gets. How are Diezel's at lower volumes? I know the Herbert is 180w ,and I know with Triple Rec's being 150w they're generally overkill for most small gig type situations and of course for practicing at lower volumes. But maybe that's just Mesa's (Rectifier's in particular) and I know they have a reputation for not being great at low volumes.

Ya I do like thunderverb's. I'd love to have the Rockerverb, and Thunderverb together then use an a/b/y switch. I don't like being limited to just 2 channels so that would solve that. Plus the built in attenuator in the thunderverb's is cool too.

Ive had/have all 3 of these. I would try a VH4. prob like it in comparison to the Rockerverb. Herbert is a killer too...just think its not gonna fit your bill.

and the Hagen...well , dont get me started. Fucking MOJO!!!! i want one!!

Undoubtedly the Herbert for metal.

The VH4 will also serve your needs admirably.

If I had to have one though, I'd take the Herbie!

VH4 is great at lower volumes. Keep the channel volumes low and the overall master higher, and it sounds great at very reasonable levels.

Here are some clips i did of the Herbert at sorta low volumes.
It's the best $3k i've ever spent on gear.

It likes P-90s.

The VH4 is hard to beat...especially If you do a lot of recording. That amp covers a lot of ground and goes to tape extremely well...IMHO.

I dig the rockerverb, I like the wide range of the gain knob on the overdrive channel. I have the mk1 and dont like the reverb which is either all or none with no in between but I heard they fixed that on the mk2. The thunderverb doesnt have enough gain but I like the idea of the footswitchable attenuator built in. Would be cool to hear a shootout with a rv and a diezel to hear how noticable the differances are.
