For a 'Marshall in a box'.
After searching videos, reviews, etc. I have narrowed it down to these two pedals. I am looking to put a small board together (Pedaltrain mini or Nano) as a backup to a tube head, and possibly will also be used to bring out to jam nights plugging into whatever backline there is. Plan on a Magnum 44 as the 'amp' on the board.
The Pete Thorn video of the Plexitone is one of the best I have heard, but you can't always go by his videos as everything he touchs sounds great. However I have heard other videos that sound stellar also using this pedal.
The Animal sounds great and generally the same in most videos I have seen. This one seems a bit more versatile too. I have heard the Plexitone can be a bit high-endy and particular about amps, but I feel I can work around that based on what I have heard.
Dig the tone of both. Pro's & cons of each? What you you put on you're board? 70's and 80's classic and hard rock tones with the ability to clean up with the guitar volume is what I'm after. I can put a boost in front of either for solos too.
Thoughts?
