Hello. Awhile ago, I acquired a Rockman Midi Ocotpus along with a Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp. So the two work well together and I am able to switch between lead and rhythm modes, turn reverb on/off, and also toggle the Eq. I'm not very familiar with midi and how it all works, but I know the Octopus can be connected to a footswitch of some sort so that I can change between channels easily. However, I've searched all over the internet and I can't seem to find a simple footswitch that can do this. Maybe I'm not searching right or I'm just looking in all the wrong places. So if anyone has any idea as to what I can use to do this, it would be much appreciated. :) Also preferably something that's not really expensive.

I used to use a midi octopus with my marshall tsl and a rack effect processor..
I used a rocktron midi mate foot controller to control both. I have seen these on e-bay and here for about $100..

Yes--will work with any MIDI footswitch.
+1. The Octopus is a great unit. I still use mine and I got it in '90.

back in the day i had one with my quad. I used a boogie abacus midi pedal, then switched to the ground control... any midi will work. I also had one of the switchable loop thingys, and had a dbx compressor in it. those things are rare as hens teeth :)

So would something like the Tech 21 Midi Mouse Pedal do the trick?

Also, I'd encourage you to get a manual on the MIDI Octopus. If I remember correctly switch "A" has a special feature that you can use it as an A/B switcher with an insert cord if you wish.

Grab a copy of the manual:

http://www.tom-scholz.com/Manuals/MO.pdf

and check out the info on page 9. Jack "A" can work as an A/B switch as well as an On/Off switch.

Cheers,
