Rockman Midi Octopus volume drop?

Bought a Rockman Midi Octopus for switching channels on my amplifier, and I'd say it arrived in what looks like mint condition. It operates as it should except for this odd issue with volume dropping when I connect it to Demeter preamp's two channel switching jacks. The clean channel is the one that always gets the volume drop, and I'd say the 2nd channel loses some clarity to it. As soon as I unplug the cables, everything is back to normal. I tried changing cables and using different ports with the same results.

When I switch back to my Voodoo Labs control switcher the problem goes away. The Rockman looks pretty straight forward in the manual, no options that would effect the amp's volume. Figured there'd be at least 1 or 2 people here who have some experience with this old box.

Could it be something funky going on with the grounding scheme, maybe, try lifting the ground on the cables from the Octopus to the Demeter. Some units don´t want the remote control cables grounded.
