Rocktron mAXE vs Amptweaker Tightmetal for Deathmetal

Has anyone tried both?

Currently using the mAXE thru a Tech 21 2x12 Powerengine.

The mAXE has lots of gain but still doesn't sound tight enough.

Would the Amptweaker Tightmetal be a good replacement?

References to Misery Index guitarist using the Tightmetal aint sufficient.

I have not played the Tightmetal, but had the mAXE for some time and something i wished to change is the frequency the bass knob affects, as like you said, it does not help you get a tight enough tone (especially if you are using lower tunings) ....get the maxe's schematic and maybe a good tech can find which values to change to make the bass knob useful...other than that, this preamp rules

I had th mAXE for years playing death metal almost seemed to sound it's best acting like a pedal... running into the front of a clean amp.
I used it into another preamps clean(cant remember th make)and an old boss eq pedal to a power amp.

thanks, have a boss gt-6 so would try it through it's Eq or maybe get an Eq pedal.
