I know the technology's older than the POD HD/Axe-fx. Does this thing sound decent? It's pretty pricey new, but would it be worth it if I found one for a good price used? Any other companies doing something similar to the Axe for NAMM that you guys know of? Budget Fractal model maybe?

Hold off, bro. You said yourself it's old technology. Heck, the Axe* itself is pretty old.

*I am not affiliated with the Axe in any way despite my name axemeaquestion

Pass on it.

I've bought 2 of them.

I loved it for playing around. like a toy. like soloing from all the silly overused effects.

but it sounds like a toy.

I don't care what Dave Mustaine uses. It sounds like a toy.

I sold them shortly after buying them only because I got great deals (think I paid like $350 for one, sold it on ebay for $700 a couple years ago).

Pass on it. I hear the same thing in the Axe-fx, a kind of plasticy bottom end..or something...
but can't dial it out on the Prophesy.
