I hear it's good with modelers and it's made for guitars...any good with tube preamps? I have to play at extremely low volumes and i'm a bedroom rockstar only...think the rocktron would do ok with randall modular preamp for my purposes?

Used to have one in my rack.. with various things over the years - a Rockrton solid state preamp, a H&K Access, and several ENGL tube preamps, and a JMP-1. It does great with all of them, feels relatively close to a Tube power amp.. maybe get ya 90% there. But yes - it works fine with tube pre's...

Yup... it RULES. LOVE mine! I have the 2U earlier model and have read that many prefer those over the newer 1U ones.

Anyways... I used to run a Vox Tonelab LE into mine (has a 12AX7 preamp tube0 and it sounded great. But it sounds even better with my Eleven Rack. In fact, I had a friend's VHT 2/50/2 tube power amp to A/B with and I vastly prefered the Velocity to it with the 11R. SO much more punch, clarity, definition, presence, etc.

Got that rig in the pantry?

Yup. The man cave used to be just a wall of amps. But I started selling-off amps last year and replacing them with food and other stocks. Actually, I've been into preparedness for years and mostly just kept those cupboards full of canned goods. But I decided to expand the food and shrink the amps. Times get tough enough... all the boutique gear in the world won't be worth a can of beans.

I had the 2U as well

I have the older single space Velocity 150. It's a killer amp and plenty loud for any bedroom dweller. The reactance and definition on the older ones is where it is at.

Nothin' says metal like baked beans and Bogners!

I've been curious how my Velocity 300 would work with preamps too actually. I use it for W/D/W now and it works great for that. I'd love to try a JMP-1 into it one day.
