for rack rig, using a preamp for all my sounds, just using the power amp to make it LOUD AND AUDIBLE.
The rocktron unit seems cool with the reactance but is it work the extra dough?

I had and SLA-2 and sold it. Then needed another power amp and went with the Velocity 300 and am really glad I did. The ART is good and super clean but also quite cold and sterile, very hi-fi sounding I guess you could say in simplest terms. The Velocity is quite a bit warmer from the get go yet still clean power that doesn't drastically alter your tone (I use mine for W/D/W) until you mess with the reactance and definition to tweak it that is. Those reactance and definition controls are things I wish the ART had to dial out some of the coldness it had.

I bought mine here as a demo unit and it came to me like new in the box with the manufacturers warranty and all....

Give them an e-mail and see if the other demo units they have for sale are in as mint condition. They said they had a few demos and all of them were clean when I ordered mine a while back.

cool...they have a demo unit of the midi controller I want too! I might have to order from them! Thanks for the tip.
i don't mind using a used piece of gear...and being in good condition is just icing on the cake. I really only care that it functions correctly.

Really liked my Vel300 1ru poweramp but I moved onto a Mesa 2020 and then a VHT clone.

I prefer tube poweramps but the Vel300 sounded great and had plenty of loud, warm, clean sound. It's not light though @ 22 pounds. Seemed to be really well built...worked well with bass as well.
