I have owned gforce and sde3000, i dont think either is holy grail type delay unless you are chasong evh tone ftom specific era.
Tc and boss delays both have a particular tone which i am too inarticulate to describe.
Gforce os a jack of all trades which i consider obsolete compared to axefx atandard.
The sde 3000 is pretty organic sounding.

I have a small but growing delay collection and here's my take on it. The manner that the delay differs from the original tone is what permits the listener to separate the direct information from the ambient. Many great delay's weaknesses due to the technology in their day are actually their greatest attributes. I'm a big fan of SDE-3000's and the Korg SDD-3000 as the 12 bit a/d/a and companding circuit do very cool things.

I use one test for delays....play, If after 2 minutes I'm done, it's not for me, if all of a sudden 75 minutes has gone by, it's a keeper. Unless you get a bad deal, you can easily flip a SDE-3000 quickly if it isn't your cup of tea.

SDE3000s sound great! They sound best when they get hit a little hard on the front end. Get the meter into the red a little. (a little tip given to me from Mr. Friedman!).
