what are some opinions on which ones are preferred,i personally like like a thick heavy chuncky sound ,but with some bite to it,im in the market to experiment with some new tubes, and it would be cool to hear others opinions on what they like

for new tubes I like JJ e34l's, never had a problem, sound great

I heard the new tung sol el34 was supposed to be the shit. The new one, not sure the exact name on the box. I heard that these were awesome. Ok, I did a search, it's the el34B by Tung Sol.

the most common used are the classic SED C .The Tung solB as mentioned and the RubySTR.
The SED are the most classic sounding .75% mid honk .If you do not like Mids I would not think you would dig these as much .
The Ruby I think are higher power more in line with the El34L you like they also focus a bit more on the lower mid growl.
Tungsols I have not tried .they say there is a lil 6l6 flavor to them .The 6l6 is most noticeable on the cleans side .other than that the are aggressive .have good mids but not as warm and creamy as a SED and are slightly more scooped sounding than a Mullard or standard 34

I loved the new sensor Mullards in my Quickrod...went through a few quads of them. Tried the Tung Sols and hated them, tried some SED winged =c= and loved them, then tried a quad of Sino's and loved them the most

Ruby just re-lables Russian, Chinese & Slovak [JJ] tubes, =C='s are they best current made power tube IMHO.

SED EL34 has been my favorite power tube for years. I've tried EH, Mullard, Ruby and TS. It of course depends on the amp, but if I had to pick, SED would be my first choice.

Love the SED stuff. Never had a failure with an SED.
