Hey guys!

I'm starting to get quite curious about adding an Axe Fx to the setup...NOT to replace everything, but to integrate into the setup with my Roadster.

Has anyone tried running the Axe with a tube amp using the 4 cable method? I'm thinking about using it for effects when using the Roadster preamp, and amp models aswell through the Roadster power amp. Input switching would happen via my GCX.

Effects wise, I use an overdrive and phaser out front, and two delay pedals in the loop...not much, but I'm thinking the Axe-Fx could replace these, and allow me to use some amp sims for alternate tones.

I'd love to hear from anyone that has tried/planned anything similar!

Sounds like you don't use enough effects to justify using the Axe as your effects LoL... Thats an awfully expensive delay pedal ;)

In all seriousness... what your wanting to achieve could be done with other things that would be much cheaper...

Now if you say "Hey guys I don't need an Axe-FX but I really fucking want one and I don't care...." then I say hell yea go for it :)

That's honestly the kind of input I'm looking for..

I do like the idea of the direct recording possibilities of the Axe FX aswell, so I'm thinking it may just be a good addition for me as a musician. Given that, I was thinking it could take care of all the effects, and some additional sounds on the amp with sims in the rig.

I'd say give it a spin
I'd love a wdw rig with my amp of choice and the axe
a nice 2x12 for the dry cab
and a pair of Mesa satellites with EVs for the wet cabs

I would use the GCX's buffered ins and outs to hook in up via 4CM. It would eliminate any hum/hiss/extraneous noise you might run into.

I'm thinking about doing this myself. I've heard that there have been impedance issues going into an amp input from the Axe with hiss and noise as a result. Anyone heard of this?
