Runt 20 or 50 for gigging

I'm planning on buying a new combo and I'm torn between the 20 and 50 watt version of the Runt. I play in a rock cover band which covers a pretty wide range but nothing too heavy. We generally play small / medium pub gigs with the occasional larger outdoor venue. I'd prefer the 20 watt for portability and the silent practice / recording option it gives (as well as being cheaper), but we have a loud drummer so I'm unsure whether it would be loud enough, especially on the clean channel. I always go through the PA at gigs, so my amp is really only used to provide stage volume. Anyone have experience playing the Runt or any of the other 20 watt Friedman's in a loud band?

if you need a clean I would get the 50. both options have the cab sim/record out.

Ive gigged my PT-20 head and two matching cabs live and its JUUUUUST enough. no additional juice if I need it. Im going to a DS 40 right away. I would go with the Runt 50 if I were you. I still use the PT-20 for smaller venues and what not.

Well... I never played any of these. I have the Smallbox.
But considering all my low wattage amps (Vox AC15, Mark V25, Tubemeister 18), I never had volume problems on rehearsals or small gigs. At bigger gigs I always go through the PA, and that is ok. But I don't use cristal clean, just roll down volume knob.

What I thing about this Runt 50W Combo... The speaker is 65W. Is it enought for a 50W amp?

I gigged a Mesa 5/25 and it was barely enough. I went to a BE100 and am much happier. I'd go 50. :D

I would second this. I have a Friedman modded Jet City head that is basically a Runt 20 in mutt form, and I've gigged with it many times. Volume dimed it just barely is loud enough, in a good way.
