One of the most underrated and quietly influential bands in the history of metal:

Tomas Lindberg of Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES has died after a battle with cancer, his family has confirmed to Swedish public service television company SVT Nyheter. He was 52 years old.

"Slaughter Of The Soul" is a nearly PERFECT metal record and if you don't know it...I highly recommend giving it a listen. In my opinion it altered the trajectory of modern metal music and set the genre on a fresh and exciting new path.
