You guys wouldn't believe the shit I've seen round here.

San Antonio is a lame dump of a city. Dude I knew was like "gigs are ripe for the taking down there". Yeah shitty bar gigs playing ancient top 40 rock and alternative with five strips of leather sitting around a bar that pays crap wages to the band. I've never seen such a large city that was so desolate in terms of decent live music. I haven't been down there in a long time.

Went to see The Alamo a couple years ago. Never been, thought I should. Took one look at the neighborhood and the $20 parking 2 blocks away and decided fuck the alamo.

$20 parking is affordable parking now. I was paying $20 before the pandemic to park next to the ARCH where all the dealers and bums be. They didn't mess with my rig because it obscured the view of the drug dealing taking place there. Lesson: ALWAYS be nice to the bums. A good bum will have your back for a 5 or 10 spot and keep the troublemakers away. How about $50 parking? $50 is the new $20 in Austin.

I've gigged the riverwalk. Total waste of time. The alamo is like going to see a tiny chapel. At least if you go down there street vendors will supply you with most anything you need to take care of your head.

I had 3 rigs with me. I wasn't paying $60 to park my shit. And if I wanted my windows all busted out I would have just stayed in St. Louis.

Are you saying I shouldn't go visit my dad's family in East St. Louis?

I have relatives there. I don't do hard drugs. Your other question is more complicated.

I suspect you have relatives in the Metro East, but not in E. St. Louis proper.

Have you ever been there ?

My best friend was murdered on Bell Ave. by two 16 year olds and a 17 year old in 2003.

Eh, pretty sure it's actual east St. Louis but maybe you are right. Last time we visited was a quick stop for an afternoon in the early 90's to meet some of my dad's cousins so I can't say 100 percent where exactly it was.

The entirety of E. St. Louis proper is a full on shit soaked ghetto. That's a fact. There are smaller municipalities nearby like Washington Park, Sauget, Brooklyn, etc. that might possibly have a few small areas that aren't trashed out, but E. St. Louis is a shithole. And I am confident in saying the white population in E. St. Louis proper is zero or very close to it. That sort of thing isn't really tolerated there.

Well, my pop originally comes from Oakland California but his dad's family was from St. Louis and MS/LA. I remember as a kid visiting Oakland in the early 80's when the crack epidemic was getting started. It was a pretty crappy area then. Grandma hoarded boxes of stuff to block her windows and most of the rooms so no one could break in.

Sure they are. As long as you're black.
