Saw Eric Gales at BB Kings NYC last night

and he was on Fire!!!!! The show was billed as a Hendrix tribute but it was really half Eric and half Jimi Material. Played a strat clone( for got the name, I think that he endorses the company) through a 2 rock Eric gales model and a few pedals....

He had this slapback delay on all night that bugged me at first but grew on me as the night went on. The guy loves to jam and was definitely in the zone and went off on a bunch of extended solos that had me grinning from ear to ear. He had Doug Wimbish from Living Color on bass and the band was pretty tight.. He was particulalry chatty tonight and seemed a bit spacey at points but the music did the talking for sure.

He did make a funny comment about the Gear Page that had me cracking up. He had mentioned a bunch of great players and then said that he didnt want to forget anyone lest they speak badly about him. He said I know that you Gear Page people are out there, Im doing the right thing!!! LOL!!!

Great Playing, Great Tone and a great time hanging with buds while warching a great player do his thing, hard to beat..

Of course not, there was only one Jimi and he isnt trying to be Jimi. Eric is an amazing musician who can go off in a variety of different styles and can lay down on the extended jam like few others. IMHO, hes one of the best out there at the moment....

...one never knows. I was at the show too and it was everything Kage said....plus some. Let's just say there was most definitely some odd shit going on at one point.

Yup, I loved him since day one with that first album when he was 17 or so..

As for him getting his act together, All I can add to that is I really really hope so....

that little jam he threw down in my lap at the two rock booth at NAMM was too short but man was he tasty.

i'm not sure about the tendencies of the guy to be self destructive but if he's not talking and just playing he is amazing.

I don't see the Hendix thing at all, cept the lefty guitar, and they both be black, but whatever! He is off the charts good tho, and a breath of fresh air in today's scene.

I loooove Picture of a Thousand Faces. His cover of I Want You (She's So Heavy) is one of the best covers I have ever heard. His brother is a badass, too. IIRC, he plays bass on that one and produced it.

Hey Steve!!! HEs inspired by Jimi but so are a bazillion other cats, this guy clearly has his own voice and thing going on. If you were to see him live or listen to his albums, youd see that , its pretty obvious...
