Was playing as the Aristocrats with Marco Minneman and Bryan Bellar, was pretty awesome. They were doing some new material from their record and you could tell some of it was a little new for them but man, those guys can play. Very cool tones too, although there are brief moments when I think he could have a slightly warmer tone when at his most overdriven, but that's just my personal preference. I thought his clean tones and mid gain were beautiful. Minneman was insane, went with one of my drummers who was stoked to see him up close. Sorry, didn't get any pics, but gotta love the fact door was only $15 to see these guys tear it up too, was also the most packed I've ever seen it there

Nice! Wish I lived somewhere that I could see talent like that at a club.

He was playing a Suhr btw

You're not helping!

I know, just saw your thread and thought I'd throw that out there ;)

In all seriousness though, have you played a bunch of Suhrs? Definitely have their own feel going on which I'm sure I could get used to, but still different from Fender, etc. I've played some very good-looking but uninspiring Suhrs that friends own IMO. That said, I think the right-spec'd Suhr/Anderson could be in my future as an overall gig guitar. Got a few potential USO gigs in texas in the works, but the thought of having to check my strat if they won't let me bring it on carry-on is nearly panic-attack-inducing. Damn strat almost always wins out over all my other guitars  :D

Colin..dude i was there, sitting at the bar next to Carl Verheyen! I went to the 11:30pm set...Marco Minnemann tore my head off! I agree, i liked Govan's clean and low gain tones..but when he stepped on that kokoboost higher gain, not so much. I actually liked Marco's tunes the best. tremendous musicians, but honestly I much prefer Scott Henderson band or Landau's for my taste.

Ahh... I was at the 9:30 set! Was gonna try and hang for the 2nd but was hot in there and my drummer had to bail.

cool man. Yeah it was reallly packed and muggy . I got really lucky to sit literally at the corner where Guthrie was like 3 feet away. Pretty basic pedal board, nothing fancy just all in the players hands. I think that was a Suhr Badger he was playing out of. I'm no Suhr expert though. That drum solo was the highlight IMO, incredible!

I recently sold a Suhr Standard for a friend (through this site if I recall correctly). Was at my house for a few weeks and I played it on several occasions. Seemed very stiff and sterile to me. Probably could've used a setup job, but I didn't want to mess with it since I had no plans to buy it. Sure was a looker though!

Got a friend who's got two Andersons. So far, I feel the same way about those that I felt about the Suhr. But I will admit that I didn't allow myself to fall in-live with any of them because I didn't want to GAS for them. Still, same guy who I sold the Suhr for had an ESP Eclipse II in vintage black that got dropped-off at my place that I had NO intentions of buying. But the minute I laid hands on it I KNEW that I HAD to have it. Been my #1 ever since. But I suppose that's how it goes... one man's holy grail is another man's disappointment. Variety is the spice of life and all that... ;)

Yep, was definitely a Suhr head, and I know he has used the badger 30 before so I'd assume that's what it was. But yeah, I agree Anthony, nothing really special as far as the gear IMO, it was all him. He'd sound just as good but different with a similar superstrat/pedal/marshall type setup IMO.

wow if i had known i totally would have made the two and a half hour drive to north hollywood just to see him

My favorite guitar player and my favorite drummer in the same building. Didn't think it could get any better than Marco playing with Paul Gilbert.

haha thank you. i was there too, but on the first night. guthrie is an interesting guy. everyone had a full conversation with him; there were only about 30-35 people. our group also wanted to talk to him but I was too nervous and this girl wouldnt let guthrie go. but its fair, I would rather talk to a cute girl than talk to 3 bearded men.

+ guthrie rolls his own cigarettes.

I was there too, first night close corner also.
It was great, I liked their evla side more then the proogy side. So glad i went
