I bumped into Rayneman, my guitar tech (Wild Dutch), and a GC guy who is a killer player in a local metal band.

Opening was Sister Sin. All of their tunes sounded similar and the guitar player was using some type of Randall SS half stack. Decent tone. The singer was hot! Most people from the front to the soundboard were treated to some nice crotch shots. Other than that, nothing memorable about their set.

Lynch had 7 heads turned on. Looked like 4 had leads coming out of them. Randall Lynch Box, his green Herbert, a Marsha, and a Sullivan. He had two Sullivans actually. Both in what looked like custom wood cabinets. He also had a Naylor and some other Marshall looking head sitting on top of the Marsha. Not sure what it was but looked like some other Dave F version of a Marshall. Lynch Box cab, Orange cab, and two old beat up Marshall cabs faced backwards. No mics on the Randall or Orange cabs.

His main tone was pretty sweet. Lead tone was a little lacking but that could have been the sound guy. He was working real hard but it was not the best performance I have seen from him. Not bad. Just not the best.

MS came out and had a great Marshall tone pumping out through what looked like a DSL stack. He had two. One was white (no leads going in) and another. His lead and main tone was really good. My first time seeing MS. I was impressed.

Overall, good show with a decent turn out. Primus was in town tonight also so that probably hurt ticket sales.

Yeah it was pretty cool...I've never seen MS either. I personally thought Lynchmob was more interesting, I guess I like their music better but MS has a cool, bluesy vibe about his playing that is neat to hear and see after Lynch's 20 fret stretches and trem abuse.

Somebody needs to tell MSG's bassist to STOP twirling that damn thing on the top his head. I wonder if their rhythm guitarist/keyboardist was a fan of Dimebag.

WTF is it with Lynch fighting every amp he uses lately??? I am starting to think a lack of practice and caring.

6 heads

I saw MSG a few weeks ago. Definitely spot on playing and worth seeing. He had two Marshall (white) stacks. Both heads were JCM 800s. One amp was his main and the other was on standby.

The bass player is acutally the CEO/owner of Dean guitars and Ddrum (who also endorses Carmine A. and MS and likely the rhythm guitarist). He has been sitting in on this tour.

I was standing by the soundboard and the first pick (out of many) that the bass player tossed out hit my leg. I picked it up and it had RevJones.com on one side and his logo on the other. His bass was covered in his logo also. It was a stick figure of him.

I think this is a different guy but I could be confused. I checked out MSG's site and there seems to be quite a few different line ups depending on when and where they're playing.

Another note, but it seemed that MSG's sound overall was much more clear than Lynch's. Maybe it where I was standing, but you could really hear Schenker's playing loud and clear. Lynch seemed to have quite a bit sauce on his tone sometimes, which led to some pretty wild noise/hiss when they were between songs. He did appear to have some type of panning delay that was pretty neat as the echos seemed to move from one side to the other. Of course...that just could have been the result of the $9 beers we were drinking.

Yes, you may be right...there have been a couple of different bass players on the current tour. Elliot Rubinson was playing when I saw MSG and he was sitting in for the original guy.

Lynch was not the opening act when I caught the show (sister sin was), but no doubt schenker's tone is fairly clean, which makes his playing more remarkable.
