I missed Testament and that pissed me off. I really wanted to catch their set.

Megadeth sounded great and Chris B is a beast. That dude can shred as effortlessly as anyone I have ever witnessed live. Mustaine was killing it also. No complaints other than they seemed to be rushing through the tunes to fit their timeline.

I am not a big Slayer guy but they were much tighter than I expected and sounded like, well, Slayer. Their tone was about as different from Megadeth as you could get but it was great. I have read that Jeff H is the main writer but I noticed that he is also the main turkey fight solo composer. Kerry K had much better lead lines and at least they seemed to go somewhere.

Their stage volume seemed to be very loud. The tech hit a couple chords with no PA support pre-show and it was loud. Each side of the stage had 18 Marshall 4X12's stacked 3 high. I know that they weren't all on but I wonder how many were running to get as loud as they were with no PA at an outside venue.

Awesome feedback!

Broderick nails martys style to a t doesnt he

Glad to hear was a good show

i had a backstage pass the other night and 3 of them were hooked up on each side. it was also quiet enough to have a conversation at talking levels backstage while they were playing so they must have kicked it up for an outside gig

Im going to see that show in october in orlando. It seems like it will be good. Its at the hardrock cafe, and I'm mostly going for megadeth.

I am going to catch this tour when it comes to Knoxville. I can't remember Testament being on the bill, but we get Anthrax instead.

Saw a video that Chris Broderick gave up his engl amps and went all Axe Ultras. How did he sound? Waiting for Dave Mustaine to jump on the Axefx

Megadeth is my top fav metal band for the past 26+ yrs. :rawk:

I remember reading something about Dave Mustaine also going Axe FX here recently.

I saw this tour last night...I had VIP and managed to talk to Chris Broderick's tech for a minute. He said he's been using the Axe for a while and loving it...they've been trying to get Mustaine on board as well but that he's still using his GSP1101 for now.

Broderick sounded awesome...played Marty Friedman's licks with ease.

Slayer was awesome as always...Kerry King is a machine.

After the Line6 episode wonder if he was hesitant or if seeing/hearing Chris's helped with his choice?

i saw nothing but axe-fx's in megadeths rigs, they had a ton of shit though

Very surprised to see Megadeth touring with Slayer. Maybe Dave is softening his stance on who Megadeth shares the stage with.

Hey fek,

I was at the Cleveland show.
Testament were definitely on their A game....as were Megadeth & Slayer.
Whoever was doing sound for Testament sucked in my opinion.
Some of the solos weren't brought up in the mix until they were halfway done.
I almost forgot how much I appreciate Skolnick's playing.

wasn't dave mustaine playing those digitech gsp1101's or whateverthehell they're called a few years ago too? i'd still like to try one of those rocktron things he used for so long. they look fun/versatile.
i saw megadeth with glen drover, and he played great - no complaints about him at all.
although i would like to see megadeth change their setlist up some. it's like tey always play the same old songs. and they need to come through st louis more. alot of tours skip st louis. i can't say that i blame them too much i guess lol.

Being the opener I would imagine that Testament gets the shaft in some areas. I saw Skolnick play in his Jazz trio about 5 years ago in a tiny bar that I used to play in back in the 80's. I was floored. He hung with us after the show and introduced himself when we walked in and he was setting up his gear.

Chris B's tone was great. I didn't know that he went to the Axe. That guy is a freak of nature. Just as smooth and effortless as I have ever seen anyone play.

Yeah, there's been other uncharacteristic things he's said and done recently. He must be maturing... finally, at almost age 50.
