Went to the Pittsburgh show. He was using his sig Dean Sky guitars and two Blackstar amps....one looked like a 3 channel and the other maybe a two channel. Also running an analog delay of some sort, not very high in the mix.

The new Dean has a nice top on it.

Loud as all get out as usual! We had fun but a long drive home. :)

He has an epic skullet/bandana look happening. Bret Michaels take note, that is your follicle future.

I was supposed to see him Tuesday here in NYC but due to unforseen circumstances, couldnt make it. My Buddy Darin went and I was cracking up because he was blown away at how loud Uli plays. He was actually angry about it LOL....

  His hair would probably grow back if he would quit wearing it....but he'd lose his mojo too....catch 22 I guess.

There were a couple times I felt my head imploding....we were pretty much center of the room too.

Loud is an understatement   I was at NYC show, and he was so loud I couldn't take it. Granted, I was there for Leslie, and am new to Uli, but I had to put my Shure SCL headphones in for Uli, or I would have had to leave...lol. I thought my head was going to explode. I still heard him fine with those in....that's loud.

Grrrrrr :gethim:

He played here Saturday in my town (Westland MI). It's a smaller club so they had their volume under control. Great set and tone from Uli. But those 2 kids playing with him bug me. The one kid looks like he has stage fright or doesn't want to be there. The other kid is more into it and I really like his playing without his pick.

had a good time though

Yeah, they bugged me too...like he picked them out of the crowd. Then again it could have just been the blood pouring out of my eyes from his volume. Seriously, I have no idea what he is thinking, unless he is deaf. He is playing at stadium volume, or louder than at least 5000 seat venue volume for small clubs. When he and Leslie jammed, you couldn't hear Leslie sing or play and Leslie had to wheel his chair around a bit, (I am assuming) to try and hear himself. It was maddening.

Those Shure's cut out like 80% outside noise, and I heard everything he did at what would be normal volume for anyone else. I said to Kage, that with all the new technology out there these days, or even with just the low wattage amps, he really needs to just look into something like that. Two full bore 100 watters blasting through the PA is way crazy in there. Shit, Steve Stevens and Pete Thorn were using Badgers at the Iridium, and Leslie was probably using a 30 or 45 was Budda or 2.

His tone, while nice, was on the piercing side. So at that volume it was rough. I will say that the headphones tamed that perfectly. Just as reference, Leslie was not exactly quiet. He was club loud...just not painful. He was as it should be. It's not like I don't like it loud. I loved how it was with SS and PT, I loved it Lenny Kravitz at Radio City on Sat. I loved Leslie. This was insane.

I almost hit that show as well. We were confused by the other gtr players too. Neither one looked like they had ever played a gig before.

Uli's tones were great, not piercing at all. He gets it all from the guitar and adjusting the pickups/ levels for gain vs clean. With little amps you just can't get there, especially with the 7 string. These new amps he was using held together better on the bottom end than the Marshall/ Framus stuff he used last time.

The highest vol was when they did the Ian Gillan tune....with both the other gtr players hammering in there and the vocals, it got a bit much.

I was pretty happy to see that Leslie wasn't on the bill. Not my taste really.

Uli's playing was great and his tone was awesome. It only got piercing at some points, but I think it had to do with the volume. I have to be honest, there is just no reason for it to be that loud anymore. 6, 7,8 or 20 string. Technology has come a long way. Not to mention, I am pretty sure Uli can have just about any amp maker build him an amp that will produce the tones in his head that wouldn't require that kind of volume in those size venues. It gets to the point where it starts to become distracting and detracts from the performance. Idk, at least in NYC a bunch of people used that time to go to the bathroom and buy merch. Their ears got fatigued. BTW, the high volume I am talking about, was ONLY Uli...not his band.

He is going to be in my town. Not going to miss that show. His lineup also shows YJM's second vocalist is doing vocals.

He was loud like always, but not louder than the rest of the band at this show. We could hear everything, the pa was alittle undersized though.

When I saw Loudness Akira was quite a bit louder.

Yeah, I never saw him before. Kage said he was always loud and that he almost went deaf when he saw him last. On Tuesday, his singer seemed to struggle to hear himself at times, but I think he got that worked out. As for Akira, I can't imagine it any louder. I can see the volume for a bigger place, but not for that venue. I don't know the size of the venue you were in, but it was definitely too loud for BB Kings. That said, I guess if you are used to it, I can see it. I will say, if Leslie had come on first, I would have never stayed for it which is a shame because Uli really played some great stuff even though I am not familiar with a lot of his work. Had he tamed the volume, it would have been much more enjoyable.

Yeah he was quite abit louder....I was up by the stage for it and it was literally ALL you could hear. :) And it was just a DSL with a Boss GT-8

This venue was maybe a 250 seat room. An old church.

We drove 4 hours to see the show. I was alittle disappointed when he played all the Hendrix. He digs it which is fine, but I'd rather hear him play his stuff. He plays all that stuff effortlessly.

I did pick up the dvd which should be cool. The vids when I was at GIT were done very well, hope these are that good.

George has no problem with the volume due to the cherry bombs he has in that family car in his avatar, thinks he has a mustang or something
