Yngwie is 50 this year. Can't believe he's still out there rockin' as hard as I saw him back in 88. I saw him many times since then, the guy never failed to delivered live. Whether you like his style or hate it, one thing is certain, he's a great performer. All the Youtube and videos just don't show his real power onstage.
I did noticed that his ideas are a lot more clearer and cohesive. He still does the same shit he always does, but it's more refined and mature now. Killer right hand technique.
There was all kinds of chaos onstage, especially between Yngwie and his tech. The kids at the front were going nuts, and some were fucking around with his pedalboard. The wall of YJM was real LOUD  it was crushing and I had good ear plugs. There's loud and there's fuckin' Yngwie loud, some times on the bridge pickup it was just grating piercing high end.
Ethan Brosh was a surprisingly good openning act. All instrumental rock ala Satriani. He played a Fender HM Strat, and ready for this? ADA MP-1!! A true 80s shred tone.

My buddy and his wife just saw him in Detroit Thursday nite.
Said it was a helluva show.

great report. I love it when guitar gods live and rock LOUD like that. thats how I want to be when Im 50. although I would kick any hands on my pedalboard with those pointy boots.
I always respect Malmsteen for living and breathing what he does 100%. You pay money to see the guy, and he does give 'er, 100%.

He lives here in south florida and I had the chance to see him a small club... I mean small... he still had the marshall cranked loud as hell with all that sparkly high end pushing all night... sounded great!

That's awesome. I wish I could see Yngwie live. He's been my "guitar god" since '85. I was visiting Minneapolis about ten years ago and missed him by one day in a club there. Would've been awesome to see him with Soto after the release of Rising Force or Marching Out.

Hoping to see him in May. Who is singing for him this tour?

Seeing him two weeks from tonight and can't wait! Haven't seen him since Trilogy tour.

Damn!!! I have not seen him since 85 with Jeff Scott Soto!!! Great show with Billy Sheehan and Talas warming up!!

wow.. that only took what 8-9 posts....

amazing, people resort to 3rd grade schoolyard bullshit.

His ego is definitely up there with the greats and he went through a phase where he was just playing as fast as he could but the clips lately seem to demonstrate some forethought before the shred and this guy is a total shred god. That nobody can deny. Loved his work in the 80's and his stage presence and performance is right up there. I do think he should do something about that piercing high end treble death beam but other than that, he is still bringing the fury. Nobody can argue with the guy's chops... or pirate shirts.

My friend who saw him is also my drummer. Guy has over 100 concerts under his belt. Lives for them.
Think he saw Yngwie at least 6 times thru the years.
It was in a small hall...and when I asked if Yngwie was ripping it up or simply going thru the motions....
he said Yngwie was ON FIRE!
Playing that small venue like a massive arena. Guess he was in the zone and just bringing it.

I saw him in 1985. Didnt know who Yngwie was and the mix was so horrible it was distorted and just LOUD.
But I went for the AC/DC show. :D

Saw Yngwie in 85 open up for ACDC on their fly on the wall tour. Yngwie will always be the man !
Yup....that was the one.
I was 14 at the time.....only been messing with the guitar a year or so. Had no clue who he was.
All I know is he was moving all over the stage doing the one leg lean to quite a bit.

Nothing wrong with Dunks (as I drink my coffee  )

On a real note, it'd be amazing to see Yngwie. One act I've been looking forward to for a long time.

no singer :scared: The bassist and keyboardist take turns singing and doing harmonies.

very well said, man. you nailed it. That piercing treble leaves a lot to be desired. As a matter of fact, that's one of the very few complains I have about Friday's show. That and just the sheer volume, it's beyond loud (and i grew up going to metal concerts at least once a month)

I sat through an Yngwie soundcheck back around 1997 in Louisville. I was stunned...to this day I have never witnessed a guitar player with such total command and domination of the instrument. To me the man is a true legend!

Me too, at the old New Haven Coliseum. Quite an experience, the environment was pretty wild.

I had good seats on the floor, and Yngwie made my ears bleed.

I have seen YangWe about 5 or 6 times. Last time was 4 or 5 years ago. Stupid good as usual and yes, his stage volume is way up there.

The thing that was most interesting was the crowd. Age range was 6 to 60! Old concert t-shirts to tweed jackets with leather patches on the elbows. I found that really cool to see the respect as a musician that he was getting.

I have to laugh at all the dismay over the brightness of a Marshall amp played loud... def a sign of a generational tone shift lol
