I know there aren't a lot of Schecter fans here, and I'm not really one either, but the KM7 has got me stoked. For the guys that need a 6, the prototypes are in Keith's hands. Hard tail and Floyded models expected.

Same specs as far as I know: SS frets, ebony boards, carbon fiber reinforced necks, SD Sentient/Nazgul set, Hipshot/Floyd bridges, and Schecter locking tuners. The 7 is under a grand, so these should be priced $100-200 less maybe....lot of guitar for short cash.

I'll definitely be interested in a 6 string. Looks pretty killer!

Not bad for all you get! I dig the 6 too, but I have enough. Of course, my daughter does need a new electric...

I have a couple 7's, but one can never have too many 6's. :D

Holy shit... wanted the 7 only because they didn't have a 6 and the guitar looks so sick I was just gonna give the 7 a shot... DEFINITELY pre-ordering one of these... thank you for posting this... please still PM me with your opinion when you get it!

No problem.....I hope they leave it as a 26.5"....I'll let you know what I think about the 7.

Literally preordering this as soon as they are available the specs are killer and the price is spot on. Keith is a fantastic player and really knows how to spec a guitar.

They posted a late 2014 release date for the 6s last night.

I've been looking at these for a while. They are Korean made, so the quality should be good. Anyone have experience with Korean Schecter's?

Schecter probably makes the best guitars for the coin out there. I don't own one, mostly because the ones I've liked are all 25.5" scale length guitars, and I'm a 24.75" guy, and have been for many years.

Funny how things have changed................. I remember not too long ago that buying a Japanese made guitar was considered stooping, and Korean made wasn't even an option. Not long after that, Mexican made were considered subpar to US made, and Japanese were behind Mexico, but still any other guitar was a pot metal, plywood POS! In the next market, Mexican made and Japanese made were considered almost a luxury item. You can now get Indonesian made guitars (which are considered below Korean) for 1/10th or less than US made guitars, put some decent pots and pickups in them, pay $80 for a decent fret job, and you will have a pro level guitar. The guitar I learned on was made out of plywood, had a twisted neck, and cost more than a Schecter or Dean set neck, solid body guitar, that you can get today for under $400, even if you're paying full price for it. AND that's usually with a hardshell case......................

Made in the same factory and by the same guys that do the LTDs. Those are serious guitars for the money; I had an EC1000 that slayed everything I had up until I hit the $1700 mark. I have high hopes for these guitars.

I watched Merrow turn down an endorsement deal because he wasn't sure they'd put out a consistently quality product, and he said he's much happier with Schecter. He's been playing the prototypes for the better part of a year, and I know he just sold off about 4 high end guitars, including a Vik, and said he doesn't need em anymore. I'm on the list for the 7, and I'll post up a review when it gets here for people that are interested.

I own several Schecters. From Korean made diamond series to USA Custom shop. Great products, great people. I have my own "signature model" build in progress with them at the moment. We've actually been developing it over the course of a few years (2 of those years on hold because of a health situation I was having). When I first send in my spec sheet, there were several things they weren't set up to do and haven't done before. Many of these features are now available in their Masterworks builds. (Musicman style truss rod, and contoured bolt-on neck joint are the 2 big ones). I should finally have my guitar sometime this year (hopefully). It's been a long process, but it'll be worth it.

Stoked!!! Can't get into 7, but like others just love the look of Keith's schecter a. . Love the barely see thru white!!

Those look awesome but are the prototypes made in the us custom shop to showcase what the guitar "should" be?

No. It's a Diamond Series guitar, made in South Korea by World Musical Instruments (primarily, sometimes production is moved to another facility if WMIL can not meet the demand at the time). Schecter is very particular about that. A Diamond Series guitar will not be made in the Custom Shop. Sometimes Shigeki or other CS staff might be involved in the design, but the building of any Diamond Series guitar, whether it be for an artist or for retail, is done by the designated facility overseas.

All artists with Diamond Series signature models receive the same guitar that is sold to the public. They may get it refinished or modified once it gets to California, but the guitar is built on the line in Korea with ones headed for retail.

I played one of the Charvel ripp-offs schecter is now making, and it wasn't too shabby.

I want a KM-7 so bad. I am so impressed with the 2014 Schecter is putting. The Banshee is sweet too and price is right. A nice option to the usual Ibanez offerings. Which are great this year as well.
