Does anyone have, or know of schematics for a early QR? Three bottle version. 2005ish

I know they are out there so if you don't get a response here, I'd post in the main forum.

Do it. There are plenty of dudes on here that can at least point you.

They probably just never come in here. :dunno:

Exception: If this is one of Scott's originals that you own, please consult with Scott under warranty.

CAN i ask why? What are you trying to do? @Bash_Man seems to have a pretty good handle on all things splawn

I don't have the schematics. I had an amp tech do all the mods for me, I just came up with the ideas. LOL 😂

All good bro @Bash_Man - I was more thinking depending on what TS wants - there may be a solution

I have a 2005 QR. I am just curious to see the tone stack, and how it is connected. I am learning how to mod circuitry. I might want to change the voicing a tad bit. My amp is FAR from any warranty. Because of age. It's a three bottle early one. Thanks all.

Cool.

I know there are schematics out there. I am assuming you bought the amp used? Lifetime warranty is not transferable. Here is my opinion for what it is worth.

The early 3 pre Splawns are highly sought after. If you are new to modding circuits, this may not be the amp to 'practice' on. I'd change the tone stack on a cheap amp first. I'd attempt this first on an actual point to point turret board style circuit. I'm guessing your 2005 is a printed green circuit board - which makes modding more difficult.

What are you wanting to change?

Have you messed with pre amp tubes, running a volume pot in the FX loop, running an EQ pedal in the FX loop, running OD pedals out front, etc etc?

@Bash_Man could probably confirm or deny this  as he has actually modded Splawns, as well as a few others here.

:dunno:

I would 100% agree with @311splawndude . I would not use that amp as a modding piece. However, IF you decide to do any modding, add toggle switches so you can go back to Factory setting/sound should you choose to. That's what I had done to my Nitro so i can retain that factory sound.

Cheers

I'm probably not going to mod anything on this amp. I would love to see how everything is layed out on paper though. I have made a few pedals and switching systems. I am not an electrical engineer for sure, but circuits interest me. I'm trying to bridge the gap between seeing it on paper, and seeing it on a circuit board, and what affects what. I'm hoping to learn how to change voicings by putting in or removing capasitors or resistors (probably with a switch). I am pretty handy with an iron. I love my QR. It does rip! And yes, I do boost it sometimes out front. I have a eq in the loop, and I have rolled many a tube through it. Good fun stuff.
Thanks to forums like this, I have learned a lot. 🙂

Right on man

I'm glad to hear this post.

1. Don't try to mess with your QR
2. Do a Google search on Splawn Quick Rod Schematics, you may have to dig a bit but they are there
3. Get yourself an amp building kit. Ceriatone might be a good start. Bruce Egnator did something similar
4. Follow some of the current threads on RT - there are building and modifying amp threads right before our eyes
5. Respect your Filter Capacitors
6. Have fun

Thanks! I have been reading yours and others posts for some time. I do dig a bunch that is being talked about on these threads. Oh, I have downloaded a couple QR 100 three bottle schematics. But, I am not sure they are comparable to my amp. Like I said before, seeing whats on paper and translating it to an actual board is still not a thing I am good at..... yet. 😁

I can read those at a high level. Learning how the power section interacts with pre amp section is pretty fascinating. So are Transformer. I actually have a few splawn schematics but would rather people find them on their own. Scott was always very protective of his stuff. I got in trouble once for posting gut pics on the Splawnforum. My bias tutorial. Have you seen that. I laugh now when I look back on that. Jeepers.

Also, see Matts post on main page about a supposed Marshall for sale for $1500. That looks like a good modding platform.

Is it possible to mod a quickrod 2014 with a mid cut switch and an old/new switch?

That is a great question. I do not have a concrete answer but IIRC someone here or at splawn.proboards.com mentioned that Scott said it requires a different/different type/different taps? transformer(s). Scott didn't reply to my last few emails so I'm not going to bother him anymore about sending my amp to him. What the specifics are of this I don't know. I know the older models he used Heyboer, and then switched at some point possibly around the time he began offering those options.

What transformers do you have?
When did he start offering those options?
