So the Schallers I ordered for the new guitars got here, I have a few guitars with them and have installed them many times but when attaching a strap to one the strap piece, the U part got stuck halfway where the ball end is slightly poking up as if the mechanism hasn't been fully engaged... I tried backing it off to see what the problem was but now it won't come off either. I have the ball part all the way up and however hard I push or pull it is stuck to the strap post... Any idea how to get this off? I've sprayed some WD40 in there and nothing seems to get it off

can you remove the nut that holds the lock to the strap? Back it off with a wrench or pair of pliers, get it off of the strap and then you can work on getting the lock to release

I prefer Dunlop strap locks but they get stuck too over time. You have to use a little wd40 now and again to keep them lubricated.

I have taken the nut off to let the actual strap off and have tried using pliers on it

You might have to sacrifice it, and just use a hacksaw between the flat section and the threaded section.

The post would probably fall out of the strap button, when the two sections come apart and there is no longer a spring load on it.

Maybe have a friend hold the guitar steady, so that you can focus on using the hacksaw and not have to worry about it twisting and turning while you do it.

wrap a towel around the guitar horn, exposing on the schaller. bang on the schaller U part that is stuck with a rubber mallet or small hammer. it should tap on or off quite easily. i would lay the guitar on the floor when i had to do this. had it happen a few times.

wd40 those fuckers, they like to stick.

Is the lock and the button the same brand?

Thats what I was gonna say. Ive never seen a set where the button and the U part weren't the same color.
