Schmidt as Power Amp with external Pre-Amp?

Can I use Schmidt as a power amp only for an external preamp? Not sure if it being Class A would make a difference in that configuration. Is it the same as the other models in that a patch cord has to be put in the input jack for the loop return to function? Thanks.
 
An external preamp with that beautiful Schmidt? My heart is bleeding.......
 
Not knocking the Schmidt's core tones, but I have some preamps and would like to avoid springing for a seperate power amp. The manuals for the other amps in the Deizel line talk about this, but not the Schmidt. I just want to make sure I'm not going to do any damage other than wearing out power tubes.

Hello again,

please plug in a patch cord into the Schmidt's input jack and then connect your preamp into the Schmidt's return jack.
