The V neck profile is killer, just very natural.

I can't speak to the specific models you linked, other than to note that the pricier one has an ebony board (vs. rosewood) and a higher-end Floyd (1000 vs. Special), and comes with a hard case. In general, the Korean-made guitars are the best of the Dean imports, though you may want to upgrade the electronics (in particular, the tiny pseudo-pots) regardless.

You might also consider tracking down one of the older introductory-level USA models from the Pro, MHG, or 1000 Series, which can usually be found for under $1,000. They play just as well as the custom-shop stuff, but lack the fancy tops and paint jobs that tend to run the price up.

Good luck.

Thanks man. Good info. Ebony board, upgraded Floyd. That makes sense. I’ll digdeeper on the other models you mentioned.

Ok, looking around I figured out the slime I posted a link to is Chinese, and the stealth is Korean. The Koreans are just better made? Did they make Korean made ones with the rounded edges?

Rising farce nailed it all the way around. I did the import thing before I went USA,huge difference. Imports are kinda hit and miss. I'd advise against the stealth or razorback as the points chip waaaay to easy.

Also,as soon as you get an import, you need to pull the neck pickup and inspect the next joint. Both the fit and glue. Trust me. That's the true weak area on Dean pointy imports. Remember, there isn't much body wood there for the neck to be glued to.

The Korean stuff is far better.

Good luck on your hunt.

Thanks dude. No way I can afford a USA unless I score a deal on a used one, or maybe used Washburn as well. The Korean stealth I tried at GC yesterday was sick, but $1000 for an import just doesn’t sit great with me, even though I know that’s the norm now. Will be hunting reverb and GC used for a deal.

Dont forget to check out the Washburns goo, theg are killer. I have a Korean southern cross that is just amazing, surpasses many USA made guitars i have tried and own. I know the southern cross was supervised in the making by an american dude, but even the other models are still very high quality.

I own a bunch of Deans, mostly old 79 era and a 2002 Cadillac, all USA made. The Washburn is as good or even better.

I love their V's more than Gibson - they've kinda gone downhill last couple years though, and more and more models made in China.
They don't offer any nice V's, Z's, or Caddy's in their current imports that I like. I've had a hard-on for a 1980 Cadillac, but not sure if the quality is there...

The USA's are off-the-charts nice! They make nice stuff, for sure..

How'd you dig the Randall RD45???

That thing is awesome! IMO, it’s on par with the Evh easily, and would be totally good with it by itself; but mixed with the Evh in stereo, both boosted, in drop b, is holy shit bad ass. I’m going to put both heads in a rolling rack case for a stereo live rig.
I just grin with this rig more than any of the metal rigs I’ve had in the past. A soon as I get a zoom for my iPad I’m gonna get a couple clips in the practice space for real. You called that one man.
Cept I still really love the Evh too. Might have got a good one or have a couple decent tubes in it, cause it’s crushing.

Should be all Rubys. Change the 6L6's to JJs, warm up the bias to 35mA, and put a Tungsol in V1. It'll edge the EVH, trust me. And, for lead tones, harmonics, and dynamics, it'll definitely edge it. It's a better feeling amp, IMO. I've owned the EVH twice, the RD45H 3 times. Had them both at the same time at one point, sold the EVH to Rayneman!

Word. Will try.

I used to own a Vendetta. Cost roughly $500 when i got it. Not a bad guitar at all. Went to a local store last weekend and saw the "entry level" guitars. Talk about junk. One had the neck on so crooked the high E wasn't hardly over the frets.
