What are some amps that use diodes? The only ones I know of off the top of my head are some of the Marshall jcm900's and the jubilee, and Blackstar amps. I know I am missing a bunch. Anyone care to mention some?

Randall RGT-100
Randall RG80/100ES (solid state amps, but they have the same diode clipping approach as the RGT-100)...for that matter the X2 has it too.
I'd have to guess the new "Dime" brand solid state amps also have the same approach since they're supposed to be like the RG80/100ES amps.

Does the Wizard Metal have diode clipping? Was told that today, hadn't heard it before. Anyone confirm this?

Greazygeo would know.

I am pretty sure the new Mesa MkV does this and actually allows you to switch between diode and tube...

Correct but those are just rectifier tubes/diodes. Rectifier diodes are pretty common in tube amps overall. Any amp without a rectifier tube uses rectifier diodes.

It is not the same application...

Yes it does and in the same application as it is in the Modern Classic.
When it is implemented properly, it sounds excellent. Wizard is a great example of this.

Cheers,
Mike
