scored the first used So-Cal Charvel I've seen

Good score. Just this afternoon, in a moment of weakness I bought a new $999 San Dimas 2H - the Tele shaped body with two Seymore Duncans and the Floyd bridge.

On Monday, I decided that I was going to buy a guitar this week, and the first one I wanted was an ESP MII in Urban Camo that I found on the classifieds here...I was too late for that one so I went to ebay. I saw some of these Charvels and the Tele body just spoke to me, so I nabbed one. I am pretty sure I will dig it...I am blind in my left eye, so light-colored necks (and fretboards) work better for me. I've never spent so little time pondering a purchase...it was just "that's cool" and "buy it now" and that's all she wrote!

I bought a new one off ebay with the 25% Live Search discount -- $750 shipped is not a bad price for this little guitar. Not up to GMWs or the Custom Shop in terms of quality, but I'm not complaining. I changed the knob to a regular black one, as well as the pickup rings. The bridge humbucker became a 59 instead of the horrid JB.

LOVE that metallic orange color! I was drooling over that discounted one in the same color that someone posted here recently. NICE Score!

I have not had the collection of Lee's stuff that you have but IMO the neck is as good as any GMW that I have owned or played, it is that good. The single ply pick guard on my So-Cal is not the best one I have seen but the rest of the guitar delivers esp for the price.

Pete, I have the So-Cal and I am thinking you are going to really dig the neck, nice and broken in feeling right from the start. Not a big fan of the Tone Zone though, lacking that upper mid spike that I like. The Evo neck is good though for that motor boat meddle stuff :thumbsup:

You think so about the neck? I like the guitar -- hell for $750 the deal was unbeatable. I do think my GMWs felt a little more solid though. Especially the new ones.

I didn't like the JB in mine, so I'm putting in a 59.

How does the neck on your $750 Charvel compare to the GMW DeMartini? I really miss that guitar. :aww:

I like the color MUCH better in those pics, than on the Charvel website. :rock:

The guitar as a whole yeah I agree, my two GMWs are very solid and one has lived through 4 years of abuse without any issues. The necks on my So-Cal feels so damn good, if I was blind folded it would be tough to figure out which was which.

I am still amazed they got it right :D
