Scumbacks or WGS in an Earcandy Buzzbomb

I have had too many cabs in the last couple of years, but I keep coming back to my Earcandy Buzzbomb, but I just can't find a speaker that does everything that I want. I have been hearing so many good things about Scumbacks that I am thinking that might be my next step, but I want to see what speakers have worked great for others here.

For those who don't know the buzzbomb is a front ported 212 cab. I have really liked Earcandy green machines, and G12K-100s in there the best so far, but I just find that both of those speakers just don't do it for me 100% The Green Machines I find sound great, but don't have the chunk that british voiced speakers do, and the K-100s The mids just don't do it for me. I am thinking a M75/H75 mix will do the trick, or WGS ET65, Vet 30 might be the way to go.

What would you recommend??

I also have liked the green machines, not perfect, but a very well rounded speaker for me. I don't have a recommendation, I do like what egnater has in their cabs however, classic lead 80?

I keep on leaning towards the M75/H75 combo, the price tag is what is holding me back. I am very frugal (cheap), and since I am in Canada it will cost me about $500. That can get me over five WGS speakers, or a used 412  But I want to get something that I will like for a while, and since I am selling my 412, and my unfinished boogafunk (maybe), and I am thinking about unloading the Peters, that will put a lot back into my gear fund.

So I now have it narrowed down to WGS ET-65, Vet 30 mix, or Scumback H75/M75 mix

Speaker decisions seem to be the hardest ones since you can never tell how they will sound in your cab until you buy them

I guess this will help. I am looking for a crunchy speaker. I find that with the Green machine, or K-100s I have to turn the gain up, I like how some speakers let you turn the gain down a bit, but still give you that nice crunch. I mainly play hard rock.

I say order a WGS ET-65 and WGS Retro 30 from Steamco Music in Wpg MB.

The retro 30, is that the brighter version of a vet30??

Man, I thought k100s sounded so harsh and grainy in my buzzbomb. I absolutely LOVE my eminence legends M12s in it though. I wouldnt mind trying out some GB12s and some eminence delta pros as well. I imagine the delta pros would be amazing in it, but Im having trouble letting go of my M12s. I dunno. Ive also tried a swamp thang and black powder in it, and wasnt a huge fan. The eminence legends, IMO, have everything a speaker needs...very balanced and tight sounding, and great for all kinds of music. They dont have any spikes in any frequency, just very even and balanced sounding speakers.

That's how WGS describes it. I don't find my two R30's bright at all though. I like them better than the Vet 30's personally. Vet 30's sound nice, but to me they just sound too smooth and a little weak compared to real V30's and the R30's.
The R30's are a closer representation to real V30's, but less upper mids and deeper, tighter lows.

I will have to check them out. I am kind of leaning towards WGS since I am looking at $200 instead of $500 for a pair to my door. I will probably wait until the weekend to make a final decision. I have a couple of nights out of town in a hotel room with nothing to do but listen to sound clips, and research them. If I don't end up going crazy from information overload then I will hopefully have a decision

I have a Buzzbomb .... took out the Green machines that were recommended by the owner . They were not aggressive enough for me . I'm an 80's metal guy at heart. I installed V30's in it and I like it better . More mid-range , less low end though . The resonance dial on my JVM dials in great thump . Speakers are very subjective .... that's my experience . Any one looking for a set of GreenMachines let me know :D

I have always wanted to try a Scumback due to the glowing reviews and soundclips that I have heard but $ is the name of the game for me right now. I love the ET65 that I have so I would look for a couple used WGS speakers so that you don't lose anything on a resale but I believe that you will like them well enough. Plus, you should be able to pick two of those used for $100. Pocket the extra $400.

I just ordered that combo!!!!! And some tan grill cloth for my cab. I am hoping that they will do the trick for me. If not then I will end up selling them, and getting the Scumbacks.

Thanks for the recomendation!!!!

Make sure to give them a chance to break in! They don't as long as some other speakers to warm up but they do need some hours on them to loosen up.

Ive never heard the scumbacks.

There is this old timer/local guitar hero in my area. His tone is NEVER less than perfect every time I see him play out. On the occasion I bump in to him, he loves to talk gear. He always raves about the scumbacks. He describes them as the "finest for all types of music, period". I trust his opinions 100%.

At this time IM very happy with my V30s but I still plan on trying some scumbacks in the future. Like the OP the price is holding me back as well. I too am what youd call a "bargin shopper"
