Hello,

It's been long since I have been lusting for a quad of BM75's for my 4x12(celestion GB RI inside right now)
The price I can get them is 300$ each!!!!!
We are talking about more than 1200$ (around 900 Euros with the transfer fees).
I like my celestions and I would like to make an upgrade but I think that THIS price is pretty high...
I know that the Scumbacks are much better speakers but do they worth their price in Europe?

Would you pay this amount for a quad?
I know that in USA each speaker worth something around 150$...
For that price I would have bought them years ago...

Thanks

Wow! I can't imagine paying that much per speaker. Might be cheaper to buy a whole new cab! Lol

Thats a pretty steep price!!! If you already have GN RI's then stick with them. The BM75's are just a different flavor of that speaker anyway. Not an upgrade, just different.

I would not pay that. The EVH cab is loaded with Greenbacks and it's a great cab and it's close enough.

I have tried the EVH cab and I would take my 4x12 with GB RI any day...
That's why I was looking for scumbacks!

I love scumbacks, but $1200 for a quad is more than I would pay. I would try some heritage celestion greenbacks....

Motrock has a quad of BM75's for $435. PM him and seee if he will ship to u?

1. Too much money.
2. BM75s are very aggressive speakers.

I bought one to compare to my Greenback Reissues as well as original G12-65s. BM75s are extremely prominent in the upper mids and highs. Almost to the point of being harsh and grating. I would be careful with them depending on the amp you're using. With a dark/smooth amp, they would be great. But otherwise, I'd stick to regular M75s or Greenbacks. Looking back, I would have gone with a 65 watt M75. But if you want higher power handling, go for the M75s if you can find them for a good price.

I like Scumbacks and have had a few of them, but let's not run around saying comments like "I know that the Scumbacks are much better speakers" than Celestions, because that is simply ridiculous. They are not "better". They are simply different.

How many recordings have Celestions been on compared to Scumbacks?

How many professional musicians use Scumbacks compared to Celestions?

I ended up replacing a Scumback M75 and H75 with Creambacks. Why? I prefer the Celestions.

Tone is in the ears of the listener, not in your pocketbook.

Scumbacks are nice. Would I pay $1,200 to load a 4x12 cab with them. Personally, no.

You can cut the price and get essentially the same speaker by going to Weber Speakers. I'm pretty sure Weber makes the Scumbacks.

This isn't true... anymore.

Weber used to make or supply the cones or some other part from what I remember. But as of a year or two ago, all Scumbacks are made in house. Doesn't mean they sound better. Just that Weber is no longer in the picture.

If I was in the EU I would look at jensen, or fane if you want a change from celestions. Should be much cheaper over there, and the jensen electric lightnings kick some major ass, and I have heard a lot of great things about fanes.

What are you looking for soundwise with new speakers? If it is just "more greenback" I highly recommend the G12M-65 Creambacks.

I haven't tested creambacks but I read that it is a heritage with more low end...
I didn't like the heritage when I tested an EVH 4x12...
After all I am a low wattage speaker guy...

I thought that the BM75 was somewhere between the regular M75 and GB RI,with the later being the treblier of all three...
I use a modded JCM800 2204 and a charvel with an EMG 81...
I am looking for classic metal tones...such as judas priest, accept etc...

Yeah, the weber legacies are the same as the old blue frame scumbacks that were made by weber, they are great sounding and can be had for cheap if you buy during a special. The new scumbacks are op longer made by weber.

Nah. BM75 is supposed to be like a "Blackback" Greenback. Back in the day, some Greenbacks came with black plastic magnet covers and people say they are more aggressive than normal Greenbacks.

Buy celestion greenback reissue, save some cash. Scum are great but the reissue is nice to and I'm sure far cheaper for you.

My advice : 2 Celestion G12M-65 Creamback / 2 Celestion G12M Heritage Greenback (X pattern)

And forget Scumback ...
