When 7.xx came out, my jaw dropped, 8.xx only affected the drive blocks so it wasn't that much of an update (for me), 9.xx updated the power amp sim again and it sounded better than ever... 10.xx comes out and via my headphones everything sounds soooo much better, but in my live setup, no so much.

Maybe I'm just not loving the tones so much... everything sounds so... fizzy, not the digital fizz... just fizzy... or buzzy, like an over-saturated buzz fizz. I tried the Euro Uber (which via my headphones sounded great) via my QSC GX5 into my Marshall 1960 4x12 cab with the G12-75's (which is a bit bright) and my Flextone 4x12 cab (that is dark)... both even out very nicely because the Marshall gives me my highs and the Flextone gives me my lows. Well, the Uber sounded very compressed, overly saturated and fizzy... Then I tried the FAS Modern (one of my 9.xx favorites) and it was similar but a lot less compressed and a lot less fizz. Then the Recto New was a different kind of fizz but not as compressed. I just don't remember any of those sims sounding as fizzy as they do on 10.01. We're (hopefully) going to practice today and I'm going to adjust it some more... I had my input gain right at a steady yellow (no red), but to "clean" it up a bit (but still not enough) I had to lower the input gain to barely yellow... anyone else having issues with 10.xx?

P.S. Where's the modeling sub forum that this thread is supposed to be under? ;)

10.xx addressed the presence control...a few tone tweaks should have you right back where you want to be.

I noticed that 10.1 screwed all of my sounds but I just chalked it up to the massive change. (I was comming from version 7.3 or something like that and I was way behind with the updates lol )
With that said, if you are using previous patches that you programmed with a previous version, you might want to start from scratch or really look into the settings. That's what I did and Im digging it so far.
I did notice that some stuff did sound wooly but I was able to dial it out. :rawk:

I got lucky and received my standard the day 10.01 came out.

I actually have the opposite problem. It sounds great out front but not as good in my IEMs...

During every firmware update I always default my settings in the amp block and start from scratch... via my headphones all I had to do was crank the master volume to around 7.50 and the prescense to around 2.00 and it sounded great. But live, that buzz is killing me!!!! As I said, with 9.xx it sounded good... I cranked the bias to 1.00 to give me the meat and it wasn't enough... on the Das Metall sim I even had the gain at 0.00 and the master and 7.50 and it was still buzzy!!!! Crazy!!!

Yeah, Im not sure what you are experiancing but if you can't dial it out then Id just go back to 9.xx
I thought about going back myself until I was able to dial in some killer tones that worked for me. Now I think my sound might even be better then what I had on some stuff. tough call!!

The good thing is that my tones opened up (under 9.xx) when I bought a Bareknuckle Painkiller... I could finally hear the sonic signature of each of the amp sims.

How do you revert back to the default settings of an amp model after you've changed them. Is there a button or something?

With the bypass button... not the effects bypass...

Hold it down for two seconds and it will revert to factory defaults on the amp sim settings... you'll know when it reverts to Tube Pre... I wish it would stay on the amp sim you were on but oh well.

Since the Presence control was the biggest change I would start there, especially if you were running it high before the update.

Cliff has stated that half of the amp models have been tweak at least in some way (on top of the prescense modeling)... only the Euro Uber has been overhauled. Most of time (pre 10.0) I rarely used the presence at all... now (via headphones) it makes the amp sim come alive.
