hey guys, long time no see. I'm moving to europe at the end of may and I'm bringing my VH4 with me. I'm planning on selling it and getting a Diezel Schmidt and a modeler...........which one you guys recommend?

I play mostly acoustic pop and blues pop so, clean is the most important part of my tone. I'll be using the modeler a lot for recording (not only ideas but real takes)

I know about the Axe and Kemper, but what else is out there that has REALLY REALLY good cleans and lightly overdriven tones?

thank you guys.

Fender Deluxe Reverb for cleans.. throw a pedal out front for some grit.

I have a Princeton Reverb RI which I'll have and a Krampe Little Joe which cleans are based on a Deluxe Reverb (soudns superb) but I wanna have a modeler for late night recordings, which I'm sure will be plenty.

The pod HD really does have great cleans and light od tones. For reals. But, if you want super high end, I'd choose the Kemper.

Recommend don't sell the VH4.

don't have real use for it these days. The cleans are good but not pristine-fenderlike cleans. Plus having an amp like the VH4 just for cleans and a little bit of overdrive is overkill. Too big of an amp and heavy.

good to hear because I was looking at the POD HD or the 11Rack

The Kemper/Axe is not for me....too much cash for a piece of gear that will cost half the price in 2 years

How about a software plugin modeler? I'm really impressed with Guitar Rig 5 Pro. The built in cabinets are provided by Redwire and the clean and low distortion amps sound great to my ears. Full version is less than $200.

That, or get a load box and DI that can take a speaker level signal and reduce it to line-level and use the Schmidt for recording straight in. You still need a cab sim in software. Guitar Rig could act as this (cabs only) or get Redwire/Two Notes or something else for cabs.

Yamaha THR10....seriously. Sounds good at even whisper volumes, doubles as a jam-along amp, recording interface (with capability to record DI and amp tracks simultaneously; also includes Cubase 6), and monitor system. Plus it can run on batteries and has acoustic/electric and bass models.

Also doesn't hurt that it's rather cheap compared to other options :D

I have one and it's probably the single most useful piece of gear I've ever owned. Check one out

One of the Digitech units, Joey. You can use the GSP or RP as FX only and the 4CM for playing live and adding some dist. "pre"amp models sounds pretty cool IMO. Has a USB out and editing software and such . . . so if you want a modeler which also sounds nice live or coupled with real amps.

Other than that: a simple Mesa Studio preamp (run off the send jack) into a 'puter with impulses sounds pretty good too.

which Digitech you recommend Olaf? I know you own one that sounds VERY Good as I saw in one of your old videos

This one I think:

You're using your preamp and the Digitech as direct box and poweramp emulator right?

I can do that with my Little Joe and Princeton for late naight recording into my DAW.

Yupo, thats the one, a poor man's AxeFX. USB, 4CM, cab sims, some nice amp models - what else could one need.
Some guys prefer the RP1000 or so, the floor version though. Look thru RT there are some threads about the GSP.

excellent. thanjs Olaf!

btw I'm gonna be in Vienna by the beginning of June, so we'll be neighbors. Hope to make a trip to Bad Steben and visit you also my friend

You really don't want to sell it, biggest mistake I've ever made in my gear whoring, still wish I had that amp.

I can still buy it again if I want to. I've had it for 5 years now, I know the amp inside out, I know what it does (and does it freakishly awesome) but it's not 100% for me IN THE STYLE that I play. If I played metal/rock, I for certainly would own and play a VH4 or some other diezel. (hmmmm thinking about it, I'd play a Krampe amp to support my friend Olaf who's amps are incredible).

Randall MTS modded modules I would recommend an RM50 head or combo and a Jaded Faith PlexiTweed or a Jaded Faith Vybe Deluxe both offer killer blues tones in mid to light gain and have an all tube signal path unlike a modeler.

I'll have two tube amps...Princeton Reverb RI combo (which I'll switch the 10" speaker for a 12"), and a Krampe Little Joe which sounds EXCELLENT. Great cleans and great OD tones.

I need the modeler for lane night recording sessions and such. I don't want them austrian kicking me out of their country for being too loud hehehehehe
