Considering getting a PRS semi-hollow McCarty singlecut. It would be used with some high gain preamps (fish & CAA 3+SE). What can I expect from the low end on the guitar? muddy, loose? Feedback/noise issues? I have no issues swapping pickups if need be.

The biggest difference is the attack. It’s rounder and not as immediate as a solid body. Almost like it has compression on it, but it’s not compressed. Pretty cool IMO.

PRS semi-hollows are more of a chambered out solid body with an F hole and not like a 335, so they won’t have some of the gain/volume issues that a 335 has.

Even a standard semi can make some killer metal tonez. Pepper Keenen regularly used semi's with Down. Heavy as hell. I like one of my Hofner's in C#std with my Rockerverb.

But yeah those PRS are no where near a semi.

One of the guys from HELLYEAH plays a semi sometimes too. It works, trust me.

That would be Tom Maxwell...Originally from the Band Nothingface. He had/has a great tone with his Semi's through his Marshall JCM800. I Saw him with Nothingface & his Tone was Amazing.
